Budget Wedding

Adriana, on September 20, 2020 at 9:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

Any budget brides here? We are doing a super intimate wedding and trying to cut costs as much as possible, keeping the entire wedding budget under $8000 since we are in the process of building a house. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions besides those listed below? Should we skip the invitations since we have such a small guest list and can contact everyone directly.

We are only having 20 guests

Florals-only a bridal bouquet, boutonniere, and 2-3 table centerpieces (we are having an outdoor ceremony in October so we are taking advantage of the foliage/nature).

No DJ

No limo/paid transportation to wedding

Photographer only for 1-2 hours, no videographer

I'm doing my own hair and makeup

No bridal party/groomsmen

Wedding on a Sunday

No save the dates (we are notifying everyone of our date through text/in person/email)

We did our invitations at walgreens! I had my hubby do my bouquet,I purchased 2 small rose bouquets (9.98 total) at Walmart and he had them twined together. I think what you have is great!

Oh that’s very much doable if you’re cutting all of that out! I think that’s more than enough for the budget.

And obviously not buy a very expensive dress because the cost of wedding dresses and alterations can get a bit pricey!

Wedding Invitations my friend sent me this website and they are almost always running a 75% off promotion. Super affordable! I ordered the sample kit and it was great quality.

One of my friends used Costco for wedding flowers and Sam’s Club for wedding cake. The Sam’s Club cake costs $60 and it’s a tiered cake.

Hope it helps Smiley smile Good Luck!

Etsy has super cute invitation templates that you can text or email out. For 20 people I wouldn’t even have a reception just have the ceremony early in the day, have cute “cocktail hour” after and then send everyone home. Also Lulus has wedding dresses for $500 and below

You’re definitely on the right track. Are you hiring a florist or doing them yourself? If hiring a florist, I’d nix the centerpieces and do them myself. Michael’s has their fall items on sale, and you could get a really good deal on pretty but simple fall decor.

Your budget is very do-able! I had a friend who was extremely frugal and spent only $300 on her wedding.

You should be able to do this without much difficulty. We had 15 people at our miniwedding and had more flowers and hair and makeup on a Saturday and didn't go over your budget (although the venue was my parents' house so there was no venue fee). Have you figured out catering and rentals yet if they're not included with your venue? We didn't send invitations, but we had a miniwedding because of covid and we're still having a big reception next year. If we weren't doing that, I definitely would've sent invitations.

Our venue fee is $2500, which is the cheapest I could find for my area. It includes tables, chairs, tableware, and a day of coordinator. Catering is going to be around $1200 but that was just a quote we haven’t gone over what food exactly we’re going to do.

Biggest expenses for us have been venue at $3500, catering at $3000 and bartending at $2500. 120 guests. Bartending was the one thing we knew we would be splurging on. Catering we wanted to be cheaper but couldn't find anything cheaper when taking into account dinnerware and linens without going with Chipotle as our venue doesn't supply those items. We're also doing origami flowers for all floral which will be a pain to make, but cheap. Try to reach out to a local college that has a photography program to see if any students would do your photos for free or very inexpensive to help build their portfolio. We're also not sending out STD's or invitations to save on money as well, all of ours will be digital and emailed or sent through FB messenger. We did opt to send physical thank you cards though.

    Good luck with planning!

That's great! I don't know what we spent on rentals but you have that covered and a DOC will make things much easier.
Here are our other approximate costs, in case it helps:
Flowers-$1000 (2 small bouquets, 4 corsages, 9 greenery boutonieres, 8 small centerpieces, 1 arch)Food-$1200 (heavy appetizers in attractive individual containers for dinner, ice cream truck for dessert. We only had 15 people, so you may want to budget a little more for that, especially if you plan to have a plated dinner/servers. Also, that amount doesn't include drinks which I would guess were around $250).My outfit+alterations-$2100Groom's outfit-$200My hair and makeup-$250Random items (place cards, covid supplies)-$200So the total for that stuff was $4200. My friend ended up taking our (amazing) photos as a gift to us, but our pre-covid photographer quoted us $500 for 2 hours. If you kept your total for similar items close to that, or skipped the things you plan to and used that money for food, you'd end up at $7200, plus a little bit more for tips.

Everyone is a budget bride but no two budgets are the same.

Sit down with fiance to decide how much you are willing and able to spend and how long it will take to save. Get a ballpark guestlist figured out. Secure your venue asap but don't settle for the first one.
Pick 3 areas to focus on and skip the rest. Many couples go for the overall guest experience(food/drink/entertainment) and pictures to remember everything. Don't do something traditional just to please others if it has no meaning to you.
    Skip favors and programs.
Have a favorite restaurant cater with more and better food at half the price of a wedding caterer.
Skip the champagne that most don't drink and let people toast (if you have toasts) with what they are already drinking.
If your guests don't drink, don't serve alcohol. Go for a fun coffee bar instead.
Get a cake from a local grocery store.

Sounds like you have alot of good ideas!

We are planning a small wedding too, just intimate ceremony with a meal after then a reception at a later date because of trying to buy a house.

For invites, I looked online and there is a lot of options for cheap printable invites you can create as others have said. I plan on doing simple invites and save the dates so we can print them.
