Now that my wedding is complete I'm really interested to hear how everybody's budgets went/are going? Did you go over/under/did you end up having to change your budget or plans midway??

We planned for $20,000, but we're now at $28,500!

It was something that was hard to swallow, but it's an expectation with how inflation and our economy are going! Smiley xd

We did go little bit over budget but wedding are like that! Some unforeseen expenses do happen. But most of things went as per planned. As it was an Indian wedding, we had 5 different events. We still could manage to stick to budget mostly. If planned well and every penny spent can be accounted for!!

We went quite a bit over the initial estimated budget 😬 I will say though my mother was partly the driver of it and my parents are paying so … lol I am very grateful for their support and how much they want it to be nice. I’d say we are about 75% above the original rough budget. Ouch, that hurts to type. But inflation was a kicker when it comes to the smaller items, and those really add up (cake, transportation, misc decor, etc). I’d say we got good prices for the big ticket items, although florals were well above what we originally guessed they’d be, but again, due to supply chain and inflation price increases. All is not said and done yet so who knows where it will end up.

Towards the end as we were finalizing things, i didn’t care about the budget anymore. I was going to use silk flowers but decided to go with fresh when i met with my floriist for final order. No regrets though, i love all my photos! Lol!

We are 3 weeks away and slightly under budget! Most of that savings was from guest declines since our venue charges per person over 100 guests. We estimated 160 but we only have 147

We went over what I'd originally anticipated, even sticking to a budget. But we adjusted as we went (and learned more about vendor pricing).

All that said: Do not have a wedding if you can't pay for it. Taking out loans for a wedding is irresponsible.

I definitely went over budget. I felt like every time I turned around, there was a fee for something else. I'm happy that it's over.
