Anyone else in the same situation? What have been your strategies? I thought it would be fun to share out!
My strategies:
-reception in my church's parish hall
(Pros: priest dropped the fees since we are active members, and we can use their chairs, tables, plates, wine glasses and silverware. Guests don't have to travel to reception site. Cons: hall only seats 163 people and it was hard to trim the list so we might have people seated inside and outside)
-Afternoon wedding so alcohol consumption is hopefully lower (Bevmo beer and wine only)
-Sisters and making my cake
-Taco caterer: 4 tacos with rice and beans/person for $10.99/person (not a taco truck, they come and set up a drill and buffet line)
-Family members are self catering appetizers and salad to add to taco lunch
-Family friend will do day of coordinating
-Friends of my mom are helping the bar and other tasks during the wedding
