Bud Vase Flower Success?

Has anyone been successful in decorating their reception tables with bud vases and flowers? If so did your florist who did your bouquet supply you with the flowers or you buy wholesale? Did it really save you money? Who did you have place the flowers in the vases? Do you recommend it?

I DIY'd my bud vase centerpieces! Bought the vases from craft stores + Amazon and the flowers from FiftyFlowers.com - flowers got delivered like 3-4 days before the wedding and my mom, bridesmaids, and I arranged the vases the day before. My venue had a day-of coordinator that arranged them on the tables. It definitely saved us a good chunk of money and would do it again! My biggest suggestion would be to keep the flowers in a fridge before/after arranging the vases and/or choose hearty flowers that can last a long time (I wanted ranunculuses and they were struggling by the time the reception rolled around, I think because we didn't refrigerate them until after the vases were arranged). Hope this helps!
