I'm sure there are posts about this but I'm on mobile and can't search. FH and I are considering doing a brunch time reception. I love brunch and mimosas and everything about it. I'm just curious what you guys think...as a guest or as someone who has done a brunch reception. What time would be best...

I'm just curious what you guys think...as a guest or as someone who has done a brunch reception. What time would be best to start the ceremony (30 min max)? My family would be traveling and they are about 2 hours away.

What type of food should We have catered?

For alcohol we were thinking beer, mimosas, and a signature drink

Also found this cocktail called Irish Brunch, its whiskey, butterscotch schnapps and OJ, different but could be worth trying.

Might be a dumb question but should we have a Dj for a brunch reception?

I think you do still need a DJ but maybe less of the add-ons like uplighting. You said your guests won't enjoy a typical party vibe but you can tell the DJ that and they'll plan accordingly.

I also wanted to add that we will also be having washers, cornhole, Jenga at the reception since we won't be having a crazy dance party lol. Both our families love these types of things and it's what we always do at family gatherings!

I would love an omelette and waffle bar, if I were a guest. And, bacon.

Mimosa bar, Bloody Mary station sound fun. I would also love an omlete station and a waffle or donut bar.

Oooo coffee bar would be cool too with donut holes skewered with stir sticks. The possibilities!!!

I love the idea of brunch weddings! I've only been to one but I really enjoyed it. I think an 11/11:30 am start time is ideal, and bring on all the brunch foods!

I would just make sure there's a few options for those who don't like breakfast - like Celia said maybe pasta, a carving station, grilled chicken, salads, etc.

The only brunch wedding I went to had a DJ and dancing. Not that many people danced though as compared to an evening wedding, but it was still nice. At the very least they could play soft music in the background if you didn't want to have dancing.

Alyssachu the games were something we decided on considering a huge portion of our guest list is children and we won't be doing a lot of dancing.

Nice concept, but I am confused by the time. We are starting our ceremony at 11, and then having a full lunch at 12:30... I think as a guest I would be disappointing if it was just light food

We will be having a full meal, it will just be brunch foods not a fancy lunch or dinner.

Signature drinks with whiskey- What about Spanish coffees? Irish coffee? I also make a whiskey+limoncello+lavender bitters cocktail with a splash of ginger beer that is SO GOOD but it's pretty stiff.

My FSIL did a brunch wedding last June and the ceremony started at 10:30am and we ate at about 11:30am. They had a buffet of eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, fruit and waffle bar. They did a first dance and the mother/son, father/daughter dances and then played music for the kids to dance. And after that everyone went home.

I was also wanting to do the breakfast buffet style. Since it is all immediate family that will be attending I assumed it would be more of everyone just socializing and eating rather than dancing/partying

I am going with a 10 am wedding and a noon luncheon. So many people I tell think it is a wonderful idea. Majority of our guests are older and older people tend to not like to drive at night.

That's why we thought it would work too...our entire guest list is parents, grandparents, and siblings (and their children).

FH is now wanting to do Bloody Mary bar, mimosa/screwdriver bar, and our signature drink. No beer or wine.
