Brunch Wedding????

LaurenMarie, on May 5, 2014 at 1:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

We're thinking about having a brunch wedding obviously for the cost. Venues are thousands of dollars cheaper on Sundays. I've never been to a brunch wedding though. So normally its dinner and dancing, and cake, and more dancing. But since its a Sunday during the day and people aren't really drinking very much, what do you do for entertainment???

I love the idea of a brunch wedding. I've never been to one but I would expect a ceremony, lunch, some chatting and then to leave. I would assume they're fairly short but I don't know. A lot of girls here have had or are having a brunch wedding so hopefully you get some good answers! As a guest I wouldn't be expecting entertainment or dancing at a brunch wedding.

Sure you can! Mimosas, wine, Bellinis, dancing, and home by 10. It's perfect!

I love brunch weddings. We were going to have one but we have too many OOT guests. Whatever you do, it has to be done early in the day. People will not drink or party as much because they have to go to work on Monday - which is a HUGE plus for you because you do not spend as much money on alcohol. Some people will also have them early enough to have a true brunch - and serve eggs and waffles and breakfast foods which are in general cheaper than dinner foods. The last one I attended the ceremony began at 11:00 and brunch was served at 1:00 they had a waffle bar - it was amazing. They did yard games and had a bluegrass band for dancing. They cut the cake at maybe 3:00 and it was basically over by 6:00. It worked out wonderfully.

I would totally go to a brunch wedding and totally dance my butt off if there were mimosas! Smiley laugh

In my opinion, Sunday weddings are best when they're brunch weddings. Get a DJ, mimosas, great food and you'll have a blast.

I had a friend that did a sunrise ceremony (yikes! I had no idea the sun rose lol) at like 630 am on a Sunday and only 10 people showed up. Most likely because they overslept! Then they had a full beautiful breakfast at 8 am and everyone showed up for that. I didn't go (out of town) but it was a big hit! They had all kinds of breakfast entrees (a waffle station, omelet station, fresh fruits, cereal, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage,) drinks (juices, coffee, espressos, and booze!!) a DJ and even a magician that did small little groups of people and showed them tricks. Everyone loved it and it was done by 11ish so everyone still had their day! We thought about it, but decided against it. I like the night party atmosphere and since our wedding is on a Sunday we are just doing our ceremony at 3 and dinner at 5 and everything ends at 8. I definitely second the fact that it is much cheaper! The venue can still clean up and have another wedding after yours so they most likely will give you a great rate! Best of luck!

We're doing our wedding at 11:30am, with a more picnic-style reception. I'm hoping that the earlier time makes it seem more fun instead of giving the impression we were just trying to go cheap with the food.

    BRUNCH IS AMAZING.

    That is all.

Also, John looked into hiring a birds of prey exhibit for me, since that was what I really wanted. Didn't work out. If there was something goofy that you wanted for entertainment, you could look into that.

I'm having a brunch wedding... We are having mimosas and might also have sangria. In regards to foods, we're having french toast, chicken, eggs, yogurt, french fries and some other stuff. We are also having a small dessert station with pastries. That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

I live in NYC and there weren't a lot of places that had brunch menus. I think it's better to find a place that's use to serving brunch bc they'll have more to offer.

Having a waffle bar is def a cool idea. You can have fruit toppings, ice cream - the options are endless. I feel some items would work buffet style while others are better plated (ie Im not a fan of buffet - you can have an omelet station or plated)

I'm having about 12 different plated options for guest. I wanted to cut down the menu, but FH thinks we should leave it since he feels it's good they'll have a lot of options (I figured it might take them longer to decide on what they want to order).

I'm highly considering giving the cake as a favor, since we're having a dessert station.

Edit: Our ceremony is starting at 11am. And it'll be over by 2:30, 3pm. We are not having a DJ and would be playing music via an iPod (venue offered to play music for us through their system, we just have to create the playlist).

When FH and I first started looking at venues we found a place that offered a Saturday or Sunday brunch wedding for like half the cost! Well, we narrowed it down to two venues and we went back and forth for months on whether we wanted the brunch wedding or to pay double for the other venue. We ended up putting the deposit down on the more expensive venue and I'm kicking myself for it now! I Loveeee the idea of a brunch wedding, and the farther I'm getting into the wedding preparations the more I wish I had that money in the bank. Do it- I think it's a great idea!

I am planning on a brunch wedding. Not just for the saving $ aspect, but that I don't want to be up terribly late tiredly worrying about people getting home safely. Our wedding is done by 3 pm. That gives us the rest of the day to relax and max it up in the honeymoon suite. We may even go out to dinner with just our parents. The savings were clear to me - normal price just to exist in our venue and have a ceremony is $2000, we are paying $500. The food is going to be great - pancakes, fruits, vegetables, eggs Benedict, rice, fried potatoes, salad, chicken breast with mushroom sauce and dessert table and about $20 less per person than a dinner arrangement. We're hiring a jazz trio but I don't think we'll have dancing.

I am doing a brunch reception for my wedding on Aug 2nd because I'm a morning person, breakfast is my favorite meal, and a Saturday night reception is just not my style.

My ceremony is at 10:00 am. Brunch starts at 11:15 am, followed by dancing. The wedding will be over around 2:30. We are having mimosas and moscato champagne. The food will be part buffet (waffles, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, etc) and part station (omelet bar, cereal bar, coffee bar, little sandwiches, cheese and crackers, fruit).

As long as the bride and groom get into the dancing, everyone else will too. Also, we are having a WIDE variety of music, broken out almost evenly between every decade from the 50s to the 00s. We want everyone in attendance to have some options for dancing.
