Brunch wedding timeline

CJ, on September 14, 2016 at 8:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I’ve been seriously considering doing a brunch wedding. I love the idea of all things brunch, especially the idea of a mimosa and bloody mary bar. Yummm.

My concern is photography and timelines. I was thinking of a first look from 10:00-11:00, ceremony from 11:00-11:30, ‘cocktail hour’ from 11:30-12:30 for family photos. Do you think 12:30 it too late to start serving food? Has anyone done a brunch wedding? If so, what was your day of timeline?

I think of brunch as 10:30-12. To me, 12:30 is lunch.

In Austin brunch is anywhere between 9 and 3. But we are a city that loves our brunch!

I think brunch can extend into the early afternoon. 12:30 sounds fine, maybe just make sure your guests have a heads up that it will be brunch?

Maybe let the guests know when food will be served so that people eat a snack before or bring kids a snack so that nobody is waiting for awhile. Or would you have some snacks during the cocktail hour?

We had a brunch wedding. Ceremony was at 11, followed by reception. People were being called to the buffet by around 12:15 ish. We had a first look and family/bridal party portraits starting at 9:00 am. Our venue doesn't have a cocktail hour for brunch weddings. The only negative about a brunch wedding is how early you have to start hair and makeup. I had to book a hotel suite for the girls and hire hair and makeup artists to come at 5:30 am to make sure everyone was done in time for photos. Other than that, everything else was a breeze and we really enjoyed it. Let me know if you have any other logistical questions.

Thank you all! I would definitely disclose all of the details to our guests.

@MzRosaLu That is another concern I had, but I get up at 6am for work everyday so I guess it's not that different. How many people did you have in your BP? Did you have your photographer there to take getting ready shots since it was so early?

Sounds more like a lunch wedding.

I've seen some people do a mini waffle bar as their 'appetizer' I thought that was a pretty cute idea

@CJ, I'm a teacher so I'm up at that time everyday too. But to compensate for putting our moms and bridal party through that, I decided to treat them all to hair and makeup and a comfy hotel room lol. The photographer arrived at 7:00 am for getting ready shots. The hair and makeup timeline was for myself, our 2 moms, and 3 other women. We had a short trip from the hotel to the venue, which I highly recommend for this kind of timeline. It was only a 10 minute drive.

I had sort of a brunch wedding. Meal time was closer to lunch time. Ours was ceremony around 10:00-10:30, family portraits (all our guests were family) 10:30-11:00, cocktail hour 11:00-11:45 for us to do couple pictures (we didn't have a first look), and then lunch from 11:50 or so til whenever people felt like leaving after cake

A friend of mine did a brunch wedding (it was dry though except the champagne toast, cue us grabbing as much champagne as possible by flirting with the bartender) and the reception started around 11-11:30
