Brunch Wedding Experience?

Carissa, on July 28, 2021 at 8:16 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

I'm having a wedding next fall, and plan to have the reception early afternoon-midday due to needing to have an early ceremony within my church. I'm aiming to have it at a brewery, have a live band, brunch foods, and yard games. Any one have experience with planning brunch wedding or have attended one that can offer advice? Mostly looking for do's and don'ts. Thanks in advance!Smiley heart

We didn’t have a brunch wedding but yours sounds awesome! Can I go???? What kinds of food will you have? Will it be a dry brunch, or might you have a mimosa bar?

I'm assuming if it's at a brewery, you're serving beer? I'd add mimosas and maybe ceasars. They tend to go well with brunch foods.

I love breakfast food, so I'm thinking waffle bar, assorted pastries, some type of egg dish, etc. Smiley smile The day wouldn't be complete without a bloody Mary and mimosa bar!! All are welcome Smiley winking

Our wedding seems similar lol. We’re doing a brunch buffet and also will be having a live band, yard games and mimosa bar as well. My favorite part was deciding all of the food items. The one downside I’ve found was I didn’t realize how early we would have to wake up to get hair and makeup done (5am). One suggestion is consider an espresso bar since it kind of goes with the brunch vibe. My fiancé loves coffee and was pretty excited when I found and booked a vendor that would make lattes/cappuccinos.

Hi ! I went to such a wedding couple of weeks ago. The wedding was at 11, then we took some photos, a cocktail started at 12.30, then we had a meal, at the end the couple did the first dance, and it was all over around 4-5 PM.

I love it too! Could you offer fried chicken too to go with your waffles??? Between that, an egg dish maybe one other breakfast meat (bacon or sausage) will be plenty of protein. 😋

I attended a brunch wedding once. It was really nice, they had a coffee bar, mimosa and bloody mary station and they served waffles, pastries, egg casseroles and sausage. I did wish they had another protein option and savory option (like breakfast potatoes or something) because I'm personally not a sausage or sweet breakfast person. But overall it was a nice change from normal weddings.

I went to one brunch wedding and it was nice, but you'll never get into the "party" atmosphere early in the day the way you do at night. There was limited dancing and drinking just because people weren't psychologically in the space to do that. I think the younger people (late 20s/early 30s) weren't really sure what to do but the older/family crowd seemed to enjoy it and it was probably easier for the oldest family members to stick around for longer compared to an evening event.

There is nothing wrong with a brunch wedding, just don't expect it to have the same vibe as a late afternoon/evening event.

My best friend had a brunch wedding and it was great! My advice would be to have a good balance of sweet and savory foods; you don’t want everything to be carbs and sweets, add protein. One food item she had at her wedding that everyone went crazy for was the chicken and waffle sliders. Another thing they did was have donuts at the dessert bar. They did donut holes with to go containers. I’ve also seen people do donut boards/walls with donuts hanging on pegs. I hope this helps! Good luck!
