Hey everyone,

I have my wedding chapel booked and ready to go, the only thing is, I've got it booked for 4pm. The chapel staff are very accommodating and said that we should let them know if we want to make any changes, more so in terms of time of day we'd like to be wed. We were initially thinking about having a restaurant dinner reception at a buffet, but we don't know if we should just move it up a few hours, (e.g, have the ceremony at 10 or 11am and then brunch would follow) and do brunch instead, since it does seem cheaper. I just don't want to not be able to provide my amazing guests with a nice reception experience. FH is open to moving the plans earlier in the day, but he likes to drink as well as I do, and thinks this may prohibit everyone from really being able to "let loose" or drink as you may during dinner. And then if we have an after party, it would be too many hours later to have guests just wait around, you know? Any suggestions on how to have a fun brunch at a restaurant, have any of you done this? Would love and welcome all feedbackSmiley smile

My wedding ceremony begins at 5pm to me its a little later in the evening, because I will feel rushed to do cocktails, pics, dinner ,the first dance etc by midnight.

I think you can still have a fun reception, including mimosas etc with brunch but I agree it might be tougher to “let loose” because people have the rest of the evening ahead of them. Guests won’t (well, definitely shouldn’t) drink enough so they can’t drive after the reception. If you’re looking to have a big party with dancing and drinking I’d think it would make more sense to have a dinner reception. That way guests can drink and then take a taxi or bus back to the hotel for bed.

I think it just depends on the type of reception you want and the crowd you’re inviting! If you want a party atmosphere with dancing and “letting loose” I think dinner makes more sense. If you want to offer drinks but don’t picture everyone having more than a few mimosas then brunch sounds fun. They’re both good options, just very different.
