Brunch time wedding but I'm not serving brunch! What to do during night time??

Jess, on October 27, 2020 at 10:18 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18

Hi everyone! My fiancé have chosen a venue that allows our ceremony and reception to start and end 11:30-4:30 (unconventional but thats perfectly fine with us!). We are serving a pretty heavy lunch with desert (like a normal night time wedding + LOTS of dancing at noon lmao) After the reception is over, we are going to drive up Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park for some bomb photos! I feel like i will be super exhausted after buuuuutttt I kind of want to hit the bars in the town since my venue is literally a walk away from the bars! Has anyone had a full day of fun and was not tired?! Tell me about your brunch time/mid day weddings?! Im happy with the time and the catering option so I don't need anyone bashing my wedding plans lol

I think if you can fit a nap in between the photos and barhopping, you should be fine. Sounds like a fun day!

😂😂 This reminds me of tailgating days in college LOL Start first thing in the AM (don’t forget your morning coffee!)... party all day... eat carbs, drink water, take melatonin in the late afternoon/early evening so you can nap... wake up, slam a Red Bull, make a cocktail, and get dressed to go hit the bars!

This is my exact timeline as well for ceremony + reception! We’re doing brunch food though with a carving station for people who don’t like breakfast foods. My plan for after the reception is to take a nap if I need one, eat dinner and then hit the local bar with my new husband & all of our friends who are attending!

Sooo the HMUA is getting to my hotel room at 5:30 to do my mom & mother in laws hair, followed by my 2 bridesmaids and then me. We’ll all be picture ready at 9 since we are doing a first look & wedding party photos prior to the ceremony 🎉

We were planning our wedding for the same time but postponed due to Covid. With a dinner type meal and cake like a late wedding. We were going to go back to the hotel, shower, nap, relax. Then hit the bars afterwards either at the hotel or the strip. We live in and are getting married in Vegas so the possibilities were endless. I think if you squeeze in a break you’ll be fine!

Wow that’s early! I’m debating if I should do the same... idk if I should hire someone to do makeup because I like mine a certain way... how long do you think hair would take on just me?

Yeah! We were actually super excited for it being early. But had to postpone to a weekday since that’s all that was really available so we are now doing an evening event. I’m sure we’ll still have an after party. Good luck and don’t let anyone try to rain on your parade for your plans. We got some negative feedback from a few family members who basically told us we had to host an after party. Uh no. We opted for this because we wanted to save money, not host two parties.

Yasssss agreed!! My mom and aunt the the fact that we are having an earlier wedding but I think it’s so cool! It’s different and I don’t have to pay for uplighting lmao. I deff want a dancing vibe. Everyone keeps telling me no one is going to dance but I’m going to hype everyone up haha

Yes! Make sure your bridal party or a few guests are hype people! We already knew of a few we could count on to get people up and moving! Good luck!

That is a great time for a wedding, and the drive up Cadillac Mountain ( 1500 ft I think, more a hill except right at North Eastern Tip of the Country, is nice in August. Great pics as the light goes over the ocean, often spectacular sunsets.
But it is not a bar hopping place, after that. Post Covid, who knows. But if you check for some individual pubs or back rooms, several have live music sets, and there is a comedy club. But unlike many places, little on the street, walk place to place randomly, type pub crawl. So yes you can have a great time, and August is peak time. But close to your time check out your places and reserve a place to settle as a group. Much of the roving sidewalk traffic is hikers, people out in nature early am , not roving party people. Have your venue help you to find places, and when sets start and end, so you do not end up outside looking in when each place is full up with those staying the next hour or 2, who planned their itinerary more. And you outside where drinking or partying is not allowed on town sidewalks and streets. Yes you are at the gateway to a National Park. But it is still coastal Maine. A planned evening jaunt will be great. They roll the sidewalks up at midnight, or sooner , so getting a good start is key to a great evening there.

I guess that would just depend on how quick you can normally do your hair? If you hire someone for hair/makeup they’ll have a better idea of about how long it’ll take for each person. My HMUA is allowing 30 minutes per service (like for hair or makeup). Since I’m getting hair and makeup done, it’ll take around an hour

I had a friend that did this and they also went the nap route 🤣— I think it’s the way to go. You can always plan for it and skip it if you’re feeling totally amped and energized
