Brunch Reception

Amanda, on January 23, 2018 at 6:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Has anyone had a brunch wedding reception? We are doing a brunch and debating over whether to hold it in banquet room or reatayrant banquet room. We're leaning more toward the restaurant because pretty much everything will be taken care of. We have about 70 guests. Since its brunch, I don't expect there to be alot of dancing, so I thought a restaurant would be more appropriate (there's room for light dancing). I'm just worried that it will be boring. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'm planning a Sunday brunch reception. One of reasons I love it that it will be more low key and some might say boring, but I'm older (almost 50). We plan to have a dj for some dancing, but I suspect it won't be hours of dancing and that's just fine with me. We are also having some lawn games. I personally just want to sit down and chat with my guests and just have a really relaxed time.

We are having a Sunday high tea for our reception. No dancing but we'll have a photo booth and a magician and lots of lawn games.

Ceremony is at 10, then brunch is 11:30-2:30. We plan to do the first dance, father daughter and mother son dance.

We did brunch because it was so relaxed, and it was great! We had a musician and a few people danced, but for the most part we just ate, drank, and enjoyed. Plus, you know, brunch food rocks.

We are having a ceremony at 10 as well and probably following a similar timeline. Still working on a complete schedule. My guest list is about double what you have, so we have a reception hall. I am hoping my guests won’t be bored either haha

Sounds great! I agree...low key is nice. We are just inviting family so I think everyone will be fine. I'm just torn between the venue room and the restaurant.

Do what you feel suites your style best. I thought about a brunch and having an omelet bar for my guests but we want everyone to dance and be merry. We changed our time to an evening wedding.

I think the venue will give you more versatility, but both will work for your needs.

I'm currently planning for a brunch wedding. I live in New Orleans and we love brunches here. Bottemless mimosas and bloody Mary's, amazing food, great friends and family and friends, and some music. Plus I love that I'll get to spend the entire day celebrating with family. I'm hoping that people start dancing eventually at the reception, we have a cousin who's a DJ so he knows the crowd, so hopefully he'll use that to his advantage. If not we'll just have good music in the background of the conversation. Also down here we do second lines, money dances, etc. so a DJ is a must for me. But I am worried that people would be bored too, so another thing we're looking into is a few lawn games like corn hole toss, giant jenga, maybe even a limbo.
