Brown jacket and vest

Kimberly, on September 12, 2017 at 12:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

We are having a fall rustic wedding and I want the groom and groomsman to wear like a chocolate colored jacket and vest with a white shirt and jeans and boots but I am having the hardest time finding a brown tux. Does anyone have any advice?

Are you sure you want your FS wearing jeans at your wedding? This really only works if it's extremely casual but even then jeans at special events should never happen.

We are small town, Texas, country and I'm wearing boots with my dress so it's not really an issue with our wedding. It's going to be casual.

Part of the problem is that brown is really not a generally acceptable color for a tuxedos: black, grey, midnight blue? yes, brown? not so much.

Would you be open to a sports coat and a tweed vest?

Im confused as to whether you're looking for a tuxedo, or a suit jacket and vest.

IMHO, tuxedos and boots do not belong together. So if your GM will be in jeans and boots, it would look strange (to me) for your FH to be in a tuxedo.

Well I would like the top of the tux so yeah I guess just the jacket and vest. Because they will all be wearing jeans.

Well a suit jacket and a tuxedo jacket are different.... and it would be strange to pair a tuxedo shirt, bowtie, cummerbund and vest with non-tuxedo pants.

You want a suit jacket, yes? Sorry, just trying to understand.

Okay! Most suit rental companies such as Men's Warehouse etc. can help you pick out a brown suit jacket and vest for your wedding party. I'd recommend looking at pictures of suits in the color "cognac" because it seems to be wildly popular right now.

You could also consider a brown blazer over a blue shirt and jeans, skip the vests. It's a simple but classic look.

Or try a tweed blazer, and keep the brown vests idea...

Check out Nordstrom and Nordstrom rack. They may carry some discontinued items that could work!

But I also like your original idea, and I think that wherever you're renting from should be able to help you achieve something like this:

I'd really prefer if the jacket and vests are matching. But thank you for your ideas!

I think your best bet would be go in to a suit rentals store, and explain to the sales associates what you would like - bring your inspo pic from the OP and any other styles you like - and say, "What can you do for me?" They'll be able to help you out.

I do think clarifying the suit vs tux question is a good thing - the styles are definitely different and have different connotations- plus as Richard says it would be unlikely they they would rent/sell you the jacket without you paying for the pants too. Good luck!

Go into a place that rents out suits/tuxes and see what colors they have to offer. The place where I ordered my dress also does this and they had a huge book of different color and style options that were available to rent.

I attached a picture of what I am currently planning for them to wear. FH will be in the lighter color while his groomsmen will be in the brown-ish color.
