Brother/sister dance song instead of father/daughter dance

Elisabeth, on March 12, 2017 at 10:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

So my dad passed away 2 years ago (not long after I got engaged). I'm going to have my older brother walk me down the aisle and dance with me in the absence of my dad. Any suggestions on a good song? I feel like I'll probably be crying the whole time during the dance because I was really close with my dad. Not sure if I should do a song in memory of him or a song that reflects my relationship with my brother. Thoughts?

I think a song that describes your relationship with your brother would be better because it will show him how special he is. However you can find a different way to honor your dad such as lighting a candle for him during your reception

So sorry for your loss. My dad passed a few years ago. I too may have my older brother walk me down the aisle, but I won't want to have a special dance. Too sad. And it would make my guests uncomfortable, probably, especially my mom.

My brother surprised my with a dance at his wedding and the song was "My wish" by rascal Flatts, we were both crying the whole time but that was one of my favorite memories with him

"My wish" by rascal flats has been a song that I've considered a few times. Maybe we can dance a little to that then break out in a funny dance routine to lighten the mood lol

My best friend danced to Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" with her uncle when she got married because her father passed shortly after her engagement. It was rather moving.

I like "Stealing Cinderella" and "I loved her first" for Father-Daughter dance songs. I'd do a moving father-daughter dance song with my brother as a placeholder, and then I'd pick a fun song characterizing our sibling relationship as well. That way you can have a personalized emotional catharsis on your dance floor.

    Hope this helps.

So sorry for your loss. My dad passed when I was twelve and I was also really close to him. I have four full blooded brothers that I love deeply but had a hard time choosing to do something with during the wedding. My oldest is a priest and will be officiating the ceremony and the other three will be bridesmen. I'm walking myself down the aisle as a symbol that my dad might not be here but he always walks with me. As far as the dance goes I do not know what I plan on doing. I have a song that he recorded that's beautiful but I feel like I'll make everybody cry with it.
