Brother-Sister Dance Song?

brstrickland, on August 10, 2015 at 7:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I was thinking of adding something to the traditional wedding dances, and having a dance with my brother. Basically, all the other songs we are using throughout the ceremony & the father/daughter, first dance, etc. are country. Does anyone have any suggestions of songs that I could use for a dance with my brother on my big day?

I'm not doing a brother-sister dance, but I would always play Ain't No Mountain High Enough whenever I would babysit my brother (16 year gap). Eventually it became 'our' song. Lol You can 'borrow' it. Hehehe

That is cute, I had never thought about that for a song. We have a 6 year age gap between us lol.

I am having a brother/sister dance as well. I'm not adding it on as an extra dance though. He will just dance with me since my dad passed away when we were little. I am also having a difficult time finding the right song.

YEARS ago, my brother used to sing me Sister by the Nixons. If you're into 90s music, the lyrics are sweet, especially for long distance siblings.

I plan to play this at my wedding too, especially since my bro is also my Man of Honour.

@chasity so sorry about your father. I have Googled and YouTubed all kinds of songs for "brother sister" and for the most part, I have been unsuccessful. The one that keeps sticking out to me is "God Gave Me You", which did used to be Bubby's (brother's) ring tone when he called. Just not really sure how other people would think of that song as a brother/sister dance.

I think you don't ANOTHER formal dance. Let your guests start the party.

@Fluffy, my brother is very important to me & I am including him in our reception. FH isn't doing a mother/son dance so IF I were concerned about "partying time" it wouldn't be any longer than normal.

I am dancing with my brother because my father passed away years ago. We are probably dancing to a John Prine or Bob Dylan song because that is what our childhood was built on. I am letting him decide though. Your brother might have some ideas, you should ask him!

I never thought of asking him, CJ. However that is a really good idea. I will probably ask and give him some suggestions that Chasity gave me since he doesn't usually have a broad range of music that he listens to. Thanks!
