Brooch Bouquet

Sandra, on July 17, 2017 at 12:30 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Has anyone made their own brooch bouquet? Attempted? How long did it take?

I want to make my own and I'm looking for tips!

I made my own and I've redone it 3 times! It's taken about a year! Was going for a cascade look but it was just to heavy so redid it with flowers underneath and brooches on top!

I'm not physically preparing the bouquets myself, but have ordered brooches and will get an artist/designer (Etsy) to make me blended sola flower/brooch bouquets. I'm going to mail her my brooches (and she'll know which goes in each bouquet). I've heard how heavy they can get...that's why I'm going for the blended look. I've spent approximately $45 on 38 ( via the Wish app) brooches. I've picked things I love and things that remind me of each of my 5 bridesmaids.

My bouquet will cost $65/it's 10 inches. My BM cost 50/they're 7 inches.

And here are examples of the artist/designer's work.

Good luck with your brooch bouquet(S).

I made mine - it was a nightmare to get right! I almost decided not to go through with it, but my mom and I managed to make it right about 2 weeks before the wedding. I actually did have a plan B arranged with my florist in case I didn't get it together in time.

ETA: my first attempt was with a polystyrene ball. I don't have any pics of the mess this was - I just couldn't get it to look nice. We eventually decided to go with fake flowers and a few brooches (instead of the entire thing being brooches, which was my original idea). Pic attached of the final bouquet.

I made mine and I'd say it took my total a year, but that includes looking through tutorials, finding brooches I liked, and getting it set just the way I wanted it. I say give yourself at least 6 months, and really look at Pinterest and other places for inspiration. Make sure you have time to mess and figure out what you like best and have fun!

I'm planning to make all my arrangements, including corsages and boutonnieres, so that everything matches. Bouquets by Nicole has supplies you can order online, most for a reasonable price. For brooches, definitely check eBay, you can get them for $1-2. Larger ones are usually in the $4-6 range.

I made my brooch bouquet!! The hardest part is collecting the brooches. I chose to have my bouquet full of sentimental value. So I asked friends and family for any pieces they would like for me to include. This gave me an opportunity to include pieces of jewelry from loved ones who have passed away...like my grandpa's army tie clip, my grandmother's church brooch and even my fiance's mothers pearls (as you'll see as part of the handle) I made each piece a wire stem out of 20 gauge jewelry wire, then added them to a bouquet of artificial hydrangea. Any extra

brooches were bought from flea markets or yard sales. I even grabbed some from an estate sale. Everything took me about 10 months so get started asap. Good luck and congratulations on your engagement!

Attempted...got some really nasty feedback on here....got discouraged...gave up...made sola flower bouquets instead, which I'm in love with. I will include my "V" brooch on the handle (as soon as I fix the pin as it broke off).

People were really mean to me too on another wedding forum and told me I should do it over. I spent way too much time and money to just do another

I'm late to this convo, but, I am making my own brooch bouquet too!! I collect vintage brooches. Also, I sent an invite to every woman that I have either attended their wedding, bridal or bachelorette party, or been in their wedding and asked that they send me a specific type of brooch... so that my bouquet will have meaning.

Attached is the photo of the one I did for a friend. It took me a solid month to do. Took longer for me to win bids on ebay...
