Broken contracts

My husband and I got married April 9. Our videographer said that we would get our wedding video back in about 4 to 6 weeks on one email. The contract says 6 to 8 weeks with a due date of June 2. There were other conversations where he put even sooner expectations with me immediately reached out to him to be our videographer. We have been pretty disappointed since the wedding because he has not communicated with us one bit. I had to reach out to him on the contract to do date to do a pulse check. I was very kind and showed sympathy for the fact but it takes a while to edit I’m sure and that we were excited to see what he has put together for us. Expecting at least an apology in response. But he did not apologize he just said that it would be about 1 to 2 more weeks. We are at two weeks in a day. And still have not heard from him. We are very disappointed on his lack of communication with us even after being late and breaking in the contract . I don’t know what is normal for videographers. With any job life gets in the way and things happen. But for some reason there’s always an excuse with photographers and videographers to be late on contracts . My photographer was great. Communicated with me and even let me know she would be a week late before she was even actually late. I wasn’t so bothered in the beginning but my husband and I noticed him posting sneak peak videos of a wedding that happen after ours when we haven’t gotten our sneak peak video back at the time. I’m sure our video will be amazing whenever we finally get it but I am sad I have to be the bad guy and write in my review for him his lake of communicating and breaking contract really upset us when we paid 3,900 for his service..

WOW! 4k almost! I’m so sorry to hear that. I know sometimes it does take a while, but the fact he promised an earlier date and he hasn’t been responding concerns me. Have you been able to call him or the overall company he works for? i understand your frustration and even if he is a few weeks behind he should still update you with a timeline. If you haven’t done so already, i’d email him asking if he can give you a timeline on when it would be finished. If it’s an additional 4-6 weeks or 3 weeks. But at least to set the expectation for you, so it doesn’t feel like he ran off with your videos.

He is his own company I guess I would say he owns his business. I’m baffled because he had raving reviews. It does feel like he ran off with our videos. Last I reached out to do a pulse check was June 2nd. That’s the date on the contract that all services are to be delivered. One of his excuses was him trying to deliver all his covid rescheduleds. I think he would have known about those weddings awhile ago and still should be able to honor my husband and I. I will probably reach out this afternoon if I have not heard from hun by 12. When I reached out on June 2nd he said it will be a additional 1-2 weeks. It’s week 2 yesterday

Unfortunately this is happening with a lot of vendors because this wedding season is so busy. It sounds like he has been keeping contact with you and trying to give updates, but his estimates haven't been perfectly accurate. Because it’s summer, he will not only have a backlog of spring weddings, but is probably shooting 3 or 4 more every weekend, adding to his work load. Yes it's past the deadline, but not outrageously so. I know you're excited to see your video, but I would leave him alone for another couple weeks. It's understandable to take action against a vendor who ghosts you, but that's not the case here.

Yes, I definitely follow up and see if he’s able to give you a definite timeframe.

Wow, I'm actually surprised that your videographer's initial communicated turnaround time was 4-6 weeks. Our videographer said 4-6 months, and when I asked our wedding planner about whether this is an unusually long time, she said it's really normal and sometimes they'll try to get it to you earlier. This wedding season is absolutely chaotic for wedding vendors, so I would recommend just trying to be patient with them. I totally understand how difficult this will be and how excited you must be to get your wedding video, and I'm sorry you're experiencing this!
