Good morning ladies;

Please allow me a moment to vent. I am getting married on New Years Eve. I have been as easy going as I am able to be throughout the past year as we've planned for the wedding. Today I am so upset I'm ready to scream. At this late date when everyone in the wedding party should have their clothing secure, I have a conversation with my FH best man....who states his fiancée has found a suit on sale that he thinks will match our tux's. But he says..it doesn't have the vest, or shirt and he can find the cufflinks and pocket square. He never mentions the shoes or suspenders or the tie. NOW..I may be crazy but there are several shades of blue and you can't guarantee that the colors will match or be cut the same way. This woman is planning a wedding in July next year....why would she encourage her FH to do such a thing so close to the ceremony. I am beyond disappointed and hurt by what feels like a disrespectful move to me. Please help talk me off the roof!!!!

    Have you seen the suit yet? If it doesn't match, I'd tell them they could either get one that does or they can attend the wedding as a guest. If the suit matches, I would just ask that they get the vest, tie, etc. to match the other groomsmen.

    I think you need to tell him that he will need to wear the outfit that was chosen and cannot wear his discounted suit. There is a reason for this because it needs to be a perfect match down to all the accessories. Explain it clearly (or honestly have your FH do this).

    I agree with you...the best man is his my FH's brother and I think he's trying to keep things as calm as possible. I'm trying not to talk to the best man again because I can feel the panic in my throat and I just know it will come out like yelling....lol.

    Yesterday while talking to the best man I explained to him that the suit needs to match perfectly along with the other items....I'm upset that I even have to worry about this along with the normal concerns I already have. I/m so grateful I can at least say what I truly think on this site.

    That's what this site is for! Vent and move on, it sucks to have to deal with something so silly so late in the game. Hoping for the best on your big day!

    I agree with Neeva. He would have to wear what everyone else is. That’s part of accepting the responsibility of BM. You don’t get to do your own thing.

    I had the same problem! And had to let FH handle it, I was maaaad, to say the least but I wouldn’t let them be GM with whatever suit he wanted (he wanted a suit for amazon that said it was 60% accurate to the picture). I’ve also been super relax about everything but sometimes you need to get serious. He ended up renting the suit and don’t know if he was happy or not but it was either that or wear whatever he wanted and be a guest. It’s your wedding!

    This is yours and FHs wedding, and you get to decide what your wedding party members wear. Simple as that. End of discussion. This should be a conversation between FH and his best man. You should not even get into this with him.

    Best man can either wear what the other groomsmen are wearing, or he can come as a guest and wear whatever he wants--simple as that. End of discussion. I have found that during wedding planning, sometimes you just have to put your foot down. There are people who will fight and resist every decision you make--doesn't mean you have to accept less, or something you don't want.

    Thank you! I guess I'm just over the drama of it all! It's not that I don't care about people's feelings. But when someone takes another person's event and makes it all about them, that just really rubs me the wrong way!! So, I have to speak out!

    Just don't let anyone (not even family) walk all over you.

    Stephanie....funny that you said that. Last night my FH told me that this was his area to handle and he would make sure it's right. Gotta love when they take over Smiley smile
