Bridesmen vs Groomsmen

Trish, on February 18, 2013 at 11:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So I have always had more guys friends than girlfriends so now that I'm getting married I have two girls and two guys on my side.

I've been told to make sure we distinguish between the guys on either side with their attire. I've been told many ideas and we're all going tux shopping soon so I was hoping to see all your thoughts...

So far there's been the suggestion of different ties, one side solid other side stripes? Also, the bridesmen wearing just the vest and no jacket but I'm not keen on that one...

Any thoughts??

I think different ties, or maybe a different boutonniere would work.

What is your colour scheme? you could have girls in a grey dress and bridesmen in grey tux and groomsemen in black tux.

Also you could have 3 piece tux's and have the guys on your side match their vest to the girls & wear bowties and then the groomsmen wear the same tux but have black vests and regular ties matching the girls dresses. Also have boutineers on the groomsmen and pocket squares on teh bridesmen?

I like wassoon2bmrssmith's idea with the different coloured tuxes to match the bridesmaid dresses...unless your BM dresses will be pink or purple Smiley winking (unless you're cool with that)

I personally think a vest/tux with no jacket looks funny. I like Mrs Smith's ideas! And your idea of the different ties with stripes/no stripes, depending on your overall scheme that could be super cute.

My brother was my MOH - my BM dresses were champagne, so I probably could have put him in a linen colored tux/suit but I just had him wear the same grey tux as the GMs.

I know our situation is backward but we're having a groomswoman; we decided to make sure she stayed "feminine" so she's wearing a dress. And we want her to look similar to the groomsMEN so she's going to wear a long black dress and a red belt to match their black suits and red shirts.

i would try to do something similar. Have your guys wear something male (long shirts or suits) but something that will match the other bridesmaids (same color?).

Good luck! Would love to see pictures of the final products and people!
