Bridesmaids/tux question

Crystal, on February 19, 2020 at 9:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Good morning Brides Smiley smile

I just had a thought cross my mind. I have a few people from out of state that will be in my wedding as well as my fiance having some groomsmen out of state. (Far out of state).

How do you go about picking bridesmaid dresses and tuxes if they can't be there with you at the time? I know when I was in my cousins wedding who lives in another state, she picked out the dresses with her bridal party there, and then i had a local dress shop measure me and submitted my measurements to the place she picked the dresses at and I submitted my CC # to them over the phone.

Another option i have done in the past for out of town/state weddings was "David's Bridal" since they are pretty much everywhere...however...they aren't within 3 hours of where I live...they closed ours down a year ago....so I'd have to travel a ways just to look at bridesmaid dresses. I am planning on getting my dress locally at a shop in the city I live in.

What have some of you done...or what ideas do you have for me?

Thank you Smiley smile

We used Azazie and let everyone choose their own styles. If you want to pick the styles yourself and use David’s Bridal, you can select them online without visiting a store.

For bridesmaids dresses, I picked 9 styles in the same color and fabric I liked on azazie and they chose what they wanted. For the guys, my husband told them to get a black tux and we provided the ties in matching colors also from azazie. They didn’t match 100% but it didn’t matter to me and they looked great. We were spread out between SC, CO, TX, NC, and PA. Bridesmaids/tux question 1

Is this online or is it a brand or a store? Id like for the girls to be able to pick their own style for whatever they're most comfortable in, but also like them to be able to try them on, but still be the correct color.

    What about tuxes?

Men's Warehouse is the best in store option besides online rentals

They look pretty much the exact same color! Also, that is a beautiful photo!!!

Our tuxes will be grey so i think they'll probably have a harder time if they just picked one themselves, possibly? Do all tux shops have a standard "color" swatch type thing like they do for a lot of dresses?

They are online. You can order samples to try on for $10 each. We didn’t use tuxes, so I’m not much help there, but Men’s Warehouse has locations across the country and The Black Tux is a website similar to Azazie but for tuxes.

Thanks Rachael! Smiley smile We'll look into it. I think there's one where the men live. Thankfully they're all in the same area of florida almost as that's where he is from. My girls however are spread out between North Dakota, Missouri, Alabama.

Thats basically what i want to do. I want to make sure they have the exact color correct. I prefer they have the same color shoes as well. My bridesmaids are of all different sizes. Some very thin (my daughter will be 13 and she is 5'3" and 80lbs) and some are more busty, some are a bit larger, etc! i I just want them to all be comfortable and not feel like they have to try to fit a dress that is uncomfortable for them to be in. I do prefer they send a pic of the style of a few dresses so I can help them to decide which i'd like most for my wedding...Do you think that would be ok to do?

Our bridesmaids and groomsmen were all over. We did azazie for dresses and the black tux for tuxes. Bridesmaids/tux question 2

I had 9 bridesmaids in 5 states. My husband had 10 groomsmen in 4 states.

Bridesmaids - We picked Azazie. I gave them a color, fabric & length and let them pick and order their own dress. I didn't do the "one dye lot" thing and it was all the same color. They picked their own shoes & jewelry.

Groomsmen - Gentux. They ordered jacket, pants & shirt online. We bought ties, socks & pocket squares and gave them to the guys at the rehearsal dinner. The guys wore whatever shoes & belt they wanted.

    Great ideas! Thank you!

Did you give the guys something else as well for their gift or just the pieces for the tux ?

No we gave them actual gifts since we assumed the pocket square & tie would probably never be used again for most the guys haha! We gave them whiskey glasses, a multi-use tool, a bottle of whiskey & a cigar. Then my husband paid for a lot at his bachelor party to help out with cost.

Wonderful! That's something else i need to focus on, is gifts. Some of the people will be flying. I am thinking of personalized robes for the girls...along with a few other things.

Ours is pretty simple and more casual. My significant other if just wearing a vest and her line is wearing whatever pants they want and a white shirt. We got them suspenders and a matching tie and then my line I just gave them a color and said I want you to be comfortable wearing a dress that they like. Pictures will still look good because the colors are all the same and smiles will be more genuine with them feeling comfortable in the outfit.

Yeah, mine's going to be a bit more. We picked out dark grey tuxes with satin trim with a spa colored tie and pocket square for the guys. I may have my Ring bearer wear grey pants and suspenders...Not sure yet...

My girls will all be wearing a style they like best on themselves, but it must be in the color spa to match along with all the same color shoes. Hair up or down is their own preference, and I intend on having a fancier dress probably with a cathedral veil.
