I selected my colors when I picked my dress. All but one of my bridesmaids was there, and liked the colors. Now several weeks later one of my bridesmaids has contacted me asking if I could pick a different designer with a similar color so that the dress was less expensive.. we’re talking $100-$175 depending on the style she picks. Am I wrong for thinking her suggestion is rude and out of line??

Had you asked everyone their budget prior to looking around? I don’t think she’s out of line by asking if a change is possible if she can’t afford the dresses you picked.

I think it's common for people to freak out about money once they realize being a bridesmaid is actually expensive. I would say that 100-175 is actually very well priced.
I would let her know that in the style you want there is nothing cheaper and it cannot be changed.

I only selected color - not the dress itself. I was attempting to leave the $ spent up to them in that sense

There was probably a better way for her to go about it, however, $100 is still a lot of money to some people. I would discuss budget and see if there's any way to meet in the middle.

I only picked colors - she can select her own dress. I just picked color, and gave her a choice in the colors I selected. She was the only one that actually picked a color everyone else was okay with whatever color I gave them.

I would suggest she keep looking for a dress in the color you asked her to wear. Maybe help her try to find one if she's struggling to find a dress that's the color you want. I don't think she's being rude, just trying to come up with an affordable solution
