Bridesmaids trouble!!

Rachel, on June 15, 2021 at 10:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
My wedding was postponed because of covid about a year. Now 5 out of 6 of my bridesmaid have lost alot of weight and the dresses are now 4 sizes too small. What do i do ??? The alterations place said they cant make it more then 2 sizes smaller i feel horrible that they might have to order new dresses. Her is an example of before and after.Bridesmaids trouble!! 1

I would just have them order new bridesmaids dresses off of Azazie or BirdyGrey. The dresses are only about 100$ and it likely would have cost about that to alter them if they could have.
They can also try listing the too big ones for sale to make some money back.

Oh wow that's quite a difference! I agree with Melinda - order something else, and try to make money back on the ones you bought.

I think the only solution is making them buy new ones unfortunately, try selling them online , FB market, even Reddit .. and then they can buy new ones

Honestly, from the picture it looks like it should be able to be fixed especially around the chest area (But I'm no seamstress)

Can you find a private/independent tailor? I'm pretty amateur when it comes to sewing but that doesn't look that complicated to take in where it's needed. I would at least get a second opinion.

Honestly, even if they can do the alterations, the cost may be the same (or more) than a new dress, so I'd look into the costs of new dresses versus alterations (I think anything more than two sizes they basically have to rebuild the dress, but I'm definitely not a seamstress)

I agree with a second opinion , but also stress the importance of the dress and the person who will be wearing it being present. A lot of places will say as a policy that they can’t guarantee the structure with an alteration of over 2 sizes, but plenty of garments are more receptive to it, and where the size changes are is important too, so it’s important for a seamstress to get their hands on the dress and see it on the bridesmaid , so as annoying as it is, I’d go in person to a couple places. Taking a dress in is easier than letting it out ! And plenty of seamstresses seem like miracle workers haha

I agree with this as well. I'd take the dress to a couple of places in person for them the handle and look at! You never know, you might be able to find someone that can take it in no problem!

Yeah i agree but it’s because of the material i think too. I have already been to the seamstress with one of the bridesmaids.
