Bridesmaids Robes?

Soon2beMrsHenderson, on June 24, 2014 at 12:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 38

Hey ladies! So I keep seeing bridesmaids robes every time I go on ETSY and really like them and thought they'd be a nice addition to the bags im making for my ladies. But then I keep reading how many perceive these as not gifts but just so u can get pretty pics. Not true I didn't even think of that firstly I thought about there hair and makeup getting messed up and was going to be considerate. So with that said I know they can get pricey anyone found any good deals or did any DIY?

Oh. If I got this as a gift, I would think of it as a gift (and love it!), unless it had something dumb written on it, like "bridesmaid". *shrugs*.

I don't think most bridesmaids really like wearing those. They can only wear them the one time, and then what? They just end up in shoved in a closet forever, or dropped off at Goodwill. Why not just get them plain robes (without Bridesmaid on them), so at least your girls will be able to use them again?

I got their monogram on it, nothing like "bridesmaid" or "maid of honor", because then they will never wear it again.

I got mine robes from target- on sale for $12.99. I am not personalizing them, because almost everyone I have heard from who got a robe that said "BM" on it has never worn it again. I have gone back and forth with the idea of initials on the front side, but I actually agree, that the look really is more for me... I think they are gonna look so damn cute in those things getting ready (and even though they are logical and help them from getting makeup and hairspray on their dresses and such, I don't really consider it a gift). But I would check out target- right now I think they are having a BOGO 50% off everything sale pretty much! And they have some adorable robes!!

My SIL got us all black robes from Walmart. I use it all the time now. I already had a heavy warm robe at home but had been wanting to get a light summer one.

I personally never would wear a robe, I own one and have worn it about twice. If you think your girls would get more use out of them, go for it! But like others day, don't put bridesmaid on it, maybe just their initials.

I found some oversized button up shirts that I'm personalizing with Maid of Honor etc. I'm giving it to them early so they can wear it during any wedding event, i.e. rehearsal, shower, and getting ready. My girls have been waiting a very long time to be part of my special day and I wanted them to have something to remind them of how special they are to me. It is not their gift, I got them so many other things as gifts that one little cheesy wedding souvenir isnt going to matter. Plus they're just so cute!

Things we spend our money on sometimes are not the best imo. When would a bm wear this robe? Do you walk around the venue in a robe waiting to get dressed? Do you walk around the house in your robe or get your hairdone in a robe? How long would you wear this until you get dressed? all the dresses i have tried on and my bm tired on we step into rather than put over head so why not just wear a button up shirt for the whole getting ready part? If you have money to spend on this that is great do what you like but I find it pointless.

Thank you ladies (whos on my side lol) I haven't got them yet, but since I do plan on paying for there hair and makeup and were all to get ready at The Kapok together and plus there all my family I only have one bm that is a close friend there all my sister's and nieces. But I do like the idea of the button down as well. And don't get me wrong im not money bags by any means I just think there cute and I like there initials on it at least (but I've seen how I can purchase cheap robes and iron on myself) which I may be doing thanks for the new sites to go check!

Oh and if I wasn't on my mobile I'd show a picture I found, it shows using a Clorox bleach pen to write on a cheap standard tank u can get anywhere. Bridesmaids, maid of honor, ext... I thought this was clever :-)

I got robes but I didn't cutomize them. I figured if I were them I would use a plain robe again, but not one that says 'bridesmaid' or their name on the back. When I gave it to them they were really excited that it was just a plain solid color. I considered this as part of their gift, but I also got them a bunch of other stuff. I did get one for myself that says Bride, but that's more a keepsake for myself.

I will be getting these for my girls with their monogram on it. I would never write bridesmaids or anything like that because they won't wear it again. I think its a great gift.

I ordered all my girls a robe in their favorite color with their nickname and initial on it. Nowhere does it say bridesmaid or MOH or any of that. They are going into a duffle bag that is utilitarian. That will be filled with bridesmaids emergency kit things, flip flops (again in their favorite color) with Jewelry that is custom designed for each lady in her style and taste.

eta: their names will not be across the back, it is on the front...I think the ones with words on the back look like the robes boxers wear.

and I got them on Etsy

I second target. The fabric is so soft. I actually wear a robe all the time. I always keep this in mind, when I am over at the relatives or people are over what an I going to wear at night and I the morning.
