Bridesmaids robes or no?

Brooke, on September 7, 2016 at 11:33 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

By the title of this, I thought you were going to tell a story about how your bridesmaid got held up at gunpoint and had her purse stolen.

I'm sorry, I thought this was about bridesmaids being robbed/had things stolen based on the spelling in the title. Boy, am I relieved there wasn't a robbery!

If you can afford it, go for it. Just don't make them pay for it. If you want them, you buy them.

I liked mine for getting ready photos and got them for cheap on eBay.

This was ours. I love how they looked. But they aren't considered gifts since they are for getting ready.

I think they're cute, but I don't think I'm getting mine monogrammed anymore.

If you want it for photos and to be cute and you can afford it, sure! But don't make them buy the robes or consider it a gift.

Sure, but remember they are props and not gifts for your BM. You are purchasing them for YOUR pictures.

I thought this was going to be a very different post. I think they are cute. I didn't do anything like that because I wasn't asking my bridesmaids to get ready with me.

I think the robes make for cute photos. If you can afford them, go for it. I'm putting them in the bridesmaids tote bags (personalized) for that morning, with a bracelet for them to wear that day, personalized champagne flute, and some other fun things. I found great ones on Etsy!

Please fix the typo in the title!!!!

I thought about this, but decided against it. FSIL is getting married next summer and mentioned that she wants to do the robe thing. So I'll let her do that for her wedding, I wasn't really sold on it anyway.

I am getting my girls matching flannel shirts to wear for pictures. We're having a destination wedding up in the mountains so it seems fitting. They will also NOT be monogrammed so they can totally wear them again if they want to. If you want to do it, there's nothing wrong with it. But as others have said, don't make them pay for it!

I'm not doing robes. Since we are getting married in November and it's a little cool, I decided to do a light zip up hoodie.

    Similar to this picture.

Eta: I prefer it didn't say anything "bridesmaid".

I wanted to do robes but we decide that sweatshirts and yoga pants were more comfortable to get ready in. We still got really cute pictures.

I think it's cute but I know my bridesmaids will not be okay with getting pictures taken in little robes. I think I am going to do more of a hoody suit so we are comfortable and matching.

I also thought you were talking about your girls getting robbed.

As far as robes go, I love our pics in our robes.

Make sure you gift them something else that is NOT to be used for the wedding if you do this though. Any getting ready/hair/makeup/jewelry is not actually considered a gift.

I think robes are great as long as they don't say "bridesmaid" across it anywhere. I got all my girls a nice pink robe and myself a white one with no words or anything on them. I want them to be able to use it again. I got our adorable flower girl a floral pink one. Smiley smile I am excited to give the girls their stuff! I am actually wondering what else I should get them.... i have robes and a pearl necklace for the wedding day, but also want to get them something that is strictly for their enjoyment and not part of the wedding stuff. Any suggestions?

Im doing hoodies in stead as well. They dont need to wear them but can id they want.

I think matching getting ready photos are a bit much anyway if you dont want it. All the getting ready memories will be just as cute without matching.

I got robes for mine, let them pick the colors since they were gifts. They took more photos in them together than with me so I don't subscribe to the "it's only a prop" argument. They've told me that they've been great use outta them since too. I will agree that nothing "bridesmaid" written on it. And I also gave them a tote full of non wedding related gifts too. Go for it!
