Where and how did you ask your girls to be your bridesmaids?

I just asked them. Having a face to face conversation was important to me and made it seem more special. If you want to do an elaborate "proposal" or give a gift, I would recommend doing it in private and giving the gift once they've agreed to being in the bridal party. Making it public and giving gifts can put unnecessary pressure on people to say yes, even if they for whatever reason want to say no.

All of my bridal party members live in different cities. So I made the trip to see each of them and gifted them with a bottle of their favorite wine/champagne/beer and a custom wine/beer glass with bridesmaid or bridesman on it in their favorite color, plus a card with a cute saying on it that fit our individual friendship. Then it asked them to be my bridesmaid/bridesman. I gave it to them at brunch or over drinks. They were all well aware ahead of time that they would be asked to be my bridesmaids/bridesmen.

They are all bringing their glasses to the bridal suite for photos on the wedding day.

I texted them individually prior. Explaining location, cost, time of year, etc. to make sure they were okay with it all. They all said yes (I figured) and I sent them proposal boxes that were jewelry boxes with liquor shooters, nail polish & hair ties that said "to have and to hold your hair back". I texted them 18 months out and sent the boxes 14 months out.

All of my bridesmaids were far away when I asked them, so I did it over Facetime. Afterward, I sent them a homemade card witha quote I associate with them, thanking them for standing with me. Smiley smile

I live out of state from them, but my MOH asked to throw me a shower before she knew I wanted to ask her, so I asked her over the phone first to see if she would be okay with it, so she knew before the others. However, they all (1 MOH and 2 bridesmaids) came with me to find my dress, so I made a cute box (from Michaels, $4 each), with a handpainted a glass from dollar tree, matching knot bracelets ($10 for 4 from Amazon), and a small candle from a local craft shop in each of them. We brought them to the dress store and I asked them in front of everyone that came shopping with me. My mom recorded it! They were so surprised, even my MOH who knew she was going to be in the party still enjoyed the gift Smiley smile It was such a lovely surprise for them all!

I just asked them. I don't really understand the elaborate bridesmaid proposal trend. It wasn't a surprise to any of them, as we've mentioned to each other being in each others' weddings, and are very close. I think I did it the day I got engaged over the phone. I've been best friends with one of them for 30 years and the others since college (10 years...eek).

I wish I took pictures of them but I bought white boxes at the craft store and decorated the top with their names in pretty gold stickers (cursive). Then I filled it with a nice small bottle of champagne, a rose gold sparkly flask from Etsy with their initial, a calendar sheet with the date of my wedding, and a cute card asking them. For one of my friends that doesn’t drink hard alcohol, I put a wine glass in hers instead of the flask!

This is how I asked my bridesmaids. It was 3 cookies, hand cream from bath and body works, baby wine bottle and some Hershey kisses. I also added our color palette and our hashtag. I spent about $12 each I believe.

I'm only having a MOH and I asked her while we were having a beer lol. I had ordered a cute proposal box from etsy to give it to her but I couldn't wait to ask so I asked her without the gift and gave her the gift later.

I simply asked them, "hey, want to be my bridesmaid?" I'm not big into elaborate proposals!
