Bridesmaids proposal?

Conner, on November 1, 2019 at 11:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
I’m newly engaged and plan on starting my wedding process after we get settled into our new house. Sometime after the new year. We have looked at venues and planning has started but I’m waiting to set a date until we are settled in so it’s not added stress for us. However, my sisters and family members are going to by myself bridesmaids. I am ready to ask them and I feel like they are waiting for me to but I dont know if it’s inappropriate since I do not have a date set yet! Thanks for helping guys!

I feel like since it is family members, it is fine to ask them whenever you'd like! They would most likely attend no matter the date since you are related, so in your case, I think it's fine! Smiley smile

Wait until you at least have a date if not a venue booked. You at least want to be able to share with them concrete info like a date and a place.

I would also say wait until you have a date!

Set a date, then ask. Your bridesmaids should never be asked further than one year out as you could run into issues. They don't have any roles til later on in the planning year anyway.

I'd even go a bit further and say that around nine months out (depending on your type of wedding) is a good time to ask bridesmaids. Even if it's family, relationships and circumstances can change.

I think it's totally fine to ask them now! You know you want to get married and you want them by your side, so why not ask now?! Especially if they kind of expect it. It's totally fine to start planning in terms of getting ideas of what you may want.

I don’t think there is ever a wrong time to ask someone to be in your wedding! My best friend asked me to be her MOH and her wedding isn’t for another 3 years and does not have a date set! She actually said she did it that way, so I can help her with everything!

I would just ask and let them know you don't have an exact date yet.
