Bridesmaids Proposal

NoMore, on May 6, 2015 at 11:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 34

Hey ladies! Looking for some ideas on how to propose to my bridesmaids! How did you do it or are planning on doing it? How about gifts, if any? Thanks!

I didn't have a lot of money to spend on it, so I just printed out a cute picture of the two of us and wrote a personal message on the back of each. I don't think gifts are really necessary for it.

You can for sure keep it simple and inexpensive, or go all out if you want. I ordered personalized cards from Zazzle for $1 each, and a nail polish in one of our colors. Super easy and cheap. Some do more - I once received a personalized bottle of wine - that was cool. Just make it reflect, "you", and then whatever you decide will be perfect!

I was going to ask them in person but would have had to wait a week so I told them I was too excited to wait to ask over the phone

I gave my girls pearl necklaces and earrings to wear the day of. I am also getting them something else the day of the wedding but haven't decided yet.

I bought Yankee Candles (had a great sale) and created my own labels and put them on them. Smiley smile I should have put a comma after their names or put them under the picture but oh well.

I just got notebooks and a card and wrote a note saying I'd really like them to be my BMs. I'm not thrilled with it - I would have preferred to do something more creative, but I only had a couple days to put it together.

I bought these cards on Etsy that said on he outside "I might pee on you" then on the inside it was a long thing about being a bridesmaid. And FH bought the same type of thing for the guys. They were really cute. I wrote a note to each and handed them to each girl, minus my BM in Raleigh. They loved them.

ETA: found them and added pics

Two I asked while out to lunch, one over the phone and the other is my sister, so she already knew she would be MOH. I sent her a "will you be my bridesmaid?" card just to make it official. You can keep it simple. Trust me, these costs add up quickly and they are not necessary.

I sent a mass text: "Bridesmaids. You in?"

Apparently I suck. I didn't even know bridesmaid proposals were a thing. But hey, they're still bridesmaids, and they've been great so far!

I sent them a text...."You, standing behind me in a pretty dress with flowers in your hand on 9/26/15 are you free?" They all went nuts and were blowing my phone up. Next time I won't send a text like that as I am walking into a meeting. My phone was buzzing like crazy!

I think this trend needs to die.....seriously. A cute card may be fine, but the pinterest ideas with Ring Pops and other things are just annoying.

@maltese I agree. At first I was going to get them all a bottle of wine and get them some cute little box with a card and wine glass. Then I thought why am I spending so much time/ money when they really don't care that much. I found these cards and they were super cheap since we were getting 16. The woman gave me a great deal. It was pretty much the same as getting them a regular card which I wanted to do so I could write them a note. Worked out well but things get overboard so fast because of pinterest.

I did wine and got a personalized will you be my bridesmaid label and also personalized wine glasses with their names and the wedding date. I did the same for the guys but with beer labels and beer glasses then I made a gift basket with that and some snacks in there.
