Bridesmaids live out of state (dress)

Tasha, on November 21, 2016 at 12:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

3/4 of my bridesmaids live out of state. What would be the best option to choose for bridesmaids dresses? I will see them randomly throughout the next 10 months but one not at all (and non all at once). Find a few choices at davids bridal and let them go try them on in their state? I could just give direction as far as (if they all wore black dresses)?.. any helpful ideas?

We have bridesmaids from all over- Colorado, Maryland, Virginia and Florida. I went with one of mine in VA and picked three with her. I later went with another in MD and saw how they looked on her (shes in the process of IVF, so I needed to make sure they could work with a possible bump). I gave them three different choices in a specific color to choose from. I think it worked out well, I haven't heard any backlash. The only issue we had was the color being discontinued so half of the BMs had to order them within a week, and they did Smiley smile

I am using Alfred angelo which is national and they are calling in their measurements to one store and they can place order and ship dress when it comes in.

Pick a few dresses you like from somewhere like Davids Bridal since they have stores everywhere, have the bridesmaids go to the DB near them, have them try on the dresses that you picked, and narrow it down to the one that everyone looks good in.

Multiple styles is always a good choice. DB has a dress that you can change the straps on. The panels in the front can be halter, sheer sleeves, strapless, etc. That might be worth looking into. It's not very expensive either.

I live in Texas and my maid of honor lives in Florida and one of my bridesmaid lives in Colorado so to make it easy, cheap-ish and totally stress free I found a dress label on Amazon (Ever Pretty) that offered quality dresses, a wide variety of styles (because I have a wide variety of body types) and prices that my gals could freely choose from. At first I thought maybe the idea of shopping online would be tricky but everyone loved it and it turned out to be a lot less scary than I expected. I have Amazon Prime so I offered my login info to my girls so that they could get the fast shipping/delivery and would also have the fast free returns Prime offers in case they ran into some sizing issues. All in all everyone was extremely appreciative of the convenience and comfort of dress shopping/trying on from the comfort of their own homes. My wedding is in 2 weeks and only one bridesmaid had to return/reorder her dress.

Pick dresses from somewhere that has locations in multiple places like Davids or Alfred Angelo. Or you could do a department store. That way if you want them to all have the same dress they can go and try them on.

My bridesmaids are not only spread out over the country, but one is currently living in Tel Aviv. I finally decided to just let them pick out their own dresses. I gave them a length, color, and told them anything but strapless. There was no way I was ever going to get them together to look at dresses, and it just got too stressful for me trying to pick out a dress that I thought would look good on everyone, and also in everyone's price range.

I'm pretty excited to see what they pick out, they all have very different styles.

4 of my bridesmaids are out of state. I allowed my girls to choose their own dresses, but, chose the color, material and length. Alfred Angelo has many options and is in most if not all of the states. I registered and all of the dress details are in my registry. The girls can go in the state that they live in, chose their dress, get measured and the dress will get delivered in the state that they're in. This will allow them to get it altered if needed too.

My bridesmaids are also out of state, I chose the color, material, length, and let them buy whatever they felt comfortable in. I asked that they send me pictures before they bought them to make sure that they would go together, and so far it has worked out great!
