Bridesmaids gifts?

Ashley, on August 8, 2019 at 2:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
When I asked my girls to be in my wedding party I got them all a cute bear and their birthstone earrings. Is buying them another gift really necessary??

Yes. "Proposal" gifts are a new trend and completely unnecessary. Thank you gifts are a necessity.

I’m not sure if necessary is the right word but I think it’s definitely customary. Generally, you give a gift to the bridal party to thank them for being part of your day and everything they’ve helped with. Proposals with gifts are a newer concept and I think if you choose to do those then you’re in for giving both gifts. It shouldn’t replace the bridal party gift. If it’s a really short engagement then maybe you can get away with not doing it? I guess it depends on your circumstances.

Yes. A gift should be given on the wedding day or around that time to thank them for being part of your day.

I would say the wedding day gift is necessary, while things like proposal gifts or bachelorette favors are optional gifts. I gave all 3, knowing the two smaller gifts (proposal and bach) were optional. Even if it's not a huge gift, I'd write them a thank you note and include something like a gift card or something they would like.

I think it'd be a nice gesture for you to give them a thank you giftn

Yep! The proposal gifts aren't required, but the thank you gifts are required
