I would wait before purchasing gifts. Some people may drop out and you don't want to waste money, trust me!

I would wait until your closer to your wedding date, about 6 months. You never know what can happen.

When you do get gifts maybe you can think about what you'd want them all to wear while getting ready with you if you'll be documenting that. You see all these cute pics of bridal party getting ready together in matching outfits and so if you want that then think about what you'd think is the cutest option to gift them

If I were you I would budget money and put it aside for gifts but I would not purchase getting ready outfits this far in advance. You’d hate for bodies to change and then you would have to buy something new.

I'm also getting married October 2020 woot woot! I actually already purchased my bridesmaids gifts and kept it fairly simple. I went on Etsy and looked at their proposal boxes. I don't think there's anything wrong with giving them their gift now as long as you know for sure who want to be a bridesmaid. Good luck and congratulations!

I agree with PPs that you should wait. I just had a bridesmaid drop out a month before my wedding. Luckily I have a really good friend that was more than willing to step up. However, some of the gifts were personalized, so now I'm spending even more money getting the new bridesmaid gifts. Also, you should think about gifting them something they will want / like that is not related to your wedding, since the gift is supposed to be a thank you for standing with you on your big day. Robes are nice, but most bridesmaids don't care for them, and wouldn't wear them again. If you do want robes for pictures, than consider getting them something they'd like to go with it.

Agree with PP about budgeting now! My wedding is in October and I got my girls Vera Bradley travel blankets (they fold up into pillows). I just never was a fan of robes but I thought blankets would be cute for a late fall wedding. I might to tote bags and other little things in there too.

My bridesmaids said the would only wear the robes for getting ready and probably never again, and another one doesn't like monogrammed things so I decided to do a box with a insulated cup with their name engraved on it, make up bag with name, nail polish, lip gloss, face mask, and bath bomb. I loved the idea of the "getting ready pictures" with matching outfits but I would be wasting money because all have said they would never wear their outfits again.

I gave my bridesmaids a choice between 3 options: a long PJ shirt, a cotton waffle print robe, and a strapless short romper. They were all black from Etsy, $21-$27, and they had their first initials on them but nothing that says bridesmaid or our wedding date.
