Bridesmaids Flannels?

alexisdemetra, on May 2, 2018 at 2:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Hello loves!

I'm getting married in November and am a HUGE flannel lover. In fall/winter I'm basically always in a flannel if I'm not at work. When I was thinking about a BM gift I thought a flannel for the girls to get ready in would be sweet! A family friend of mine does embroidering and I could get their initials or something on the sleeve really small if I wanted to add a personalized touch. I was hoping to have all the BMs in matching colors and then mine in a slightly different color. I definitely don't want anything that says "BRIDESMAID" or "MAID OF HONOR" on it because I want them to wear them later.

Has anyone done this before? If so, where did you buy your flannels? I've seen a few posts saying matchy presents aren't as nice because it's all the same gift for different people. I was hoping for these to be between $15-$20/girl and then I'd do something extra for each girl that was more their specific style.

Any tips here?

I'm not certain where you reside, but there are often sporting goods stores that will sell apparel. A store like Dick's Sporting Goods or Scheel's may be a good place to look for flannels. They may even have them in brighter, more feminine colors as well.

I love my flannel from Old Navy, great quality for the price and they come in lots of colors and more feminine silhouettes! Embroidering initials on the cuffs is a cute touch. You know your bridesmaids best--would they mind being matchy-matchy? if not, go for it, its a cute idea (speaking as a fan of flannel shirts myself!)

I'm getting married in November as well and are doing the same thing. Walmart has flannels that I love (and so do most of my bridal party), they don't have them currently, but I'm not going to personalize them so I'm waiting for them to come out (usually September). They are the mens Faded Glory and they are soft and comfortable. I plan to do one color for the girls and then probably a black and white or a greyish one for me. They are around $10 a flannel and I personally have about 3 that I use for work shirts and have lasted a good amount of time.

This is amazing advice! As is the Old Navy recommendation! I was looking at places online and was wondering why they didn't have any now, but didn't put it together it was May and they wouldn't have them for purchase yet haha. Thank you so much! Excited another November bride was thinking the same thing Smiley smile

This is what I am planning on doing! I like flannels to be a little oversized for getting ready and such. I have bought men’s flannels for myself from Walmart and they are surprisingly good quality so that’s where I am going to get them for my bridesmaids!

I want to be comfortable for getting ready in the morning. I'm always cold so I figured flannels would be nice. I'm letting my girls pick the bottoms they want, just going to request black probably, but open to long or capri yoga pants or leggings. I was a BM in an August wedding for my MOH and she had silk robes and they were not comfortable because they kept falling open and such, so I vowed not to put my girls through that haha.

Totally! I was in a wedding last year and she got us tank tops but they were suuuuuuuper tight. I'm a little busty and felt pretty uncomfortable all day being in black leggings and a tight black tank top. Luckily we didn't take a ton of pictures in the getting ready outfits but I thought the same thing! An oversized flannel sounds like the perfect thing to wear in November to get ready in Smiley smile

I also wanted flannels because I'm having a winter wedding and it can get chilly here! I pretty much kept my eyes peeled for sales during the holidays and right after. In January my mom found some on sale at Old Navy for $10 and so we jumped at it. I got blue flannels for all of the girls and I'm going to wear a white and grey flannel. We don't plan to embroider them or anything, just leave them plain because some of my girls aren't "girly" and wouldn't wear their monogram.

However, if I couldn't find the matching ones I was just going to ask my bridesmaids to wear a flannel if they had one that way it could still look similar but not totally matching.

Might be more than you want to spend, but LL Bean and American Eagle have the softest flannels. You could try looking at their sale sections now to see what they have left. I also have one from Target that was $20 I think and I love it (though it's not as soft as the others). I don't know that you're gonna find flannels for under $20.

I love the men's flannels at JCPenney. My husband wears then all the time and I started stealing his. He actually went and bought me my own so that he could have his work shirts back.

I just saw a girl post on her, she was at JCPenney and found clearance flannels for $3.80 each! I get most my flannels at Target. I think this is such a cute idea, I'm getting married in the Summer or else I would have done it. I like the monogrammed idea too, super cute. I would check Etsy too.

Have you checked Etsy? They have a lot of bridesmaids options (not sure about flannel specifically though)

Definitely don't personalize them with with wedding-related anything if you want them to be worn again. Old Navy is a great place to go and tgey start to stock their fall/winter clothes in August to coincide with back to school sales. Maybe get them a size larger just to be on the safe side.
