Bridesmaids Dresses

Vanessa, on January 9, 2020 at 7:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28
My fiance would really like red to be our main wedding color which is fine with me. I was thinking black would look really elegant with the red. He wants bright red like the Detroit Red Wings since they are his favorite hockey team. I like the idea of red roses for centerpieces and bouquets, but I am stuck on what color the bridesmaids should wear. We are thinking the guys will wear black tuxes and don't really want the bridesmaids in black as well. I think it would look like they are attending a funeral instead of a wedding. I am worried if I go with red that the bouquets will blend in with the dresses or clash if they are two totally different reds. I have included some inspiration photos. Please help!

I would have the bridesmaids wear red and carry white and greenery bouquets. The centerpieces could differ from their bouquets.

I agree with Caytlyn, bridesmaids in red with non-red bouquets (white sounds good to me, unless you had another secondary color you'd prefer to use). Then you could stand out even more by carrying red roses and also have the red roses in your decor.

Thanks for your input. I don't really like white flowers and we wanted all of the flowers to be consistent.

I don't really like the white flowers. They seem to bright. I also wanted all of the same flowers for me, my bridesmaids and the decor.

Then I wouldn't have the bridesmaids in red if you're adamant on having red rose bouquets. Do you have another wedding color other than the red and black?

What about doing a little white or greenery in the bridesmaid. if you keep the roses consistent, they'll still look great. plus it'll make your bouquet stand out.

We don't. I was kind of thinking of having them in Azazie's silver. I didn't know if that would look okay if nothing else is silver or if it would seem strange that they are in silver when nothing else is silver. And if I do silver then I'm not sure what color ties and vests I would want the guys in.

I can definitely talk to the florist to see if she thinks it would stand out enough if we went with red dresses. Thanks!

What about having the men in white jackets, to break up the black a little bit?

Other than that, I’d stick with the girls in black & don’t think it’ll look too much like a funeral. Especially if you add some red to their outfit.Bridesmaids Dresses 5

If you have your bridesmaids in silver, I would probably have the groomsmen in silver ties/vests just to coordinate. Then your FH can be in a red tie/vest to stand out from his guys.

Would you try to incorporate silver into anything else? Also, what color shoes would you recommend the bridesmaids wear if they are in silver dresses? I would like them to wear the same color shoes, but they can pick any style. I was going to have them in silver if they worn red dresses, but would silver dresses and silver shoes look okay?

Thanks! My fiance wants the guys in black tuxes so the white jackets wouldn't be an option.

Oh yeah, if you decided on silver as the color for the bridesmaids, I would try to bring that out in your décor as an accent. Our colors are navy, wine, and rose gold and I really like the look of a metallic color bringing a little something to wedding decorations so the rose gold is a big part of our decor. Silver dresses would look fine with silver shoes, but if you wanted to amp up the red a little bit in the bridal party, you could do red shoes!

Maybe I could do silver table numbers. We were trying to figure out what color we wanted for them. Red shoes sound fun! I can definitely check out other ways to add silver without it being over powering. Thanks so much for your help!

Our table numbers are black with wine/blush florals over them and I bought frames from the Dollar Tree and spray painted them rose gold, these will be on the tables and part of our seating chart (pic below of the idea we're going with, just with different things inside the frames). My mom is also using the same spray paint on wine bottles as part of our centerpieces. Glad I could help!!

I went with black bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen will be in black tuxes. I will say however that champagne or gold bridesmaids dresses look really nice with red flowers and black tuxes. I saw someone mentioned silver but the champagne/ gold is a lot “warmer” looking. Bridesmaids Dresses 8

My bff is doing red for her colors and had us buy red dresses. She said she wanted to do some red flowers so I'm assuming she wanted it mixed in with white and other colors

I like the idea of your bridesmaids in black, especially with red rose bouquets. It would give a very formal feel, but still classic and elegant. I think it would absolutely be fine to have both your girls and guys in black. Here's a few photos for inspiration showing the entire bridal party in black with red rose bouquets and some other photos to give you ideas. If you definitely don't want your girls in black, you can do a beige or gold color dress or even grey would look nice too.
