Bridesmaids dresses

Sarah, on May 14, 2020 at 6:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
I already bought my dress (from Fashion Nova because it was the last one in my size) but I don’t want to pay a lot of money for my bridesmaids dresses so I was thinking they could buy whatever dress they would like as long as it’s green. Is that a good idea?

Yeah definitely! There are a lot of shades of green so just make sure you’re okay with having a variety of shades. Its nice to let your bridesmaid wear what they’re comfortable in!

A good idea if you are a little more specific. Very yellow greens, or brownish olive greens, or lime greens, do not mix at all will with slightly blue green, or even mix blue and yellow balance we call plain Crayola green. And so you need to be more specific. I told my ladies there were colors I did not want, but would have been fine with Sienna's, cinnamon, rust, or any blueish or jewel tone green, or burnt orange, or a whole lot of plum and wine colors, to go with my pale gold dress. All different fine. 3 shopped together off the rack then the fourth saw their choices, and pulled a one worn velvet formal (matron of honor.)
With different skin and hair colors, they agreed on slightly bluish greens. In the end our soloists/ musicians, friends, did too. Aquamarine, peacock blue for musicians. Silvery blue spruce, a blue sage green, also silvery metallic, a dark Forest and even darker blue green. They did a great job, different styles, all flattering, long. I was far from all 4 in BP my whole engagement, so 3 got together, and sent picks to the other 3. They said they did not start looking for even green, but happened on 2 very different blue greens. And went by the rules, clear colors ( no taupes, olives, champagne, eggplant) , no pinks, and don't clash . I was impressed. And happy to stay out of it. After the second dress any green they liked with yellowish tones, clashed, they said. Hence, all slightly to very blue, green colors.

Thank you. I have been on the fence about it and I’ve been stressing but they r going to be very hot and I don’t want them to waste money on a dress they will only be able to wear once

A few slightly different shades can also be super cute, too. But this is def an awesome option--we're doing the same thing with deep reds!

Those are both very clear colors, jewel or stained glass colors. Just those, or similar lighter darker mixed in, would be great. Have fun with NOT being matchy-matchy.

It helps online to either look at green paint colors, where ones in the same family can be compared. Or Pantone colors. What has always made me nuts is the names they call colors, which means you need to look at and agree on color swatches. No matter what the name, this is what I like. Dark teal, emerald, pine, forest, most people know generally what you mean . But decorators and dress companies use names like Eucalyptus Wreath, and Kevin's Daiquiri, and Balsam fir green, and I start to lose it. I quilt and see, by eye, like these together, not these. Still, color charts from paint, Pantone and thread companies can be good if you want to point to any of 6 colors that go together, and all others NO. Easy for shoppers to take a paper of yes and no colors with them .

What goes together, and what doesn't is easier to see and say with charts .

Thank you so much. That’s a great idea. Also would the material matter? Is it possible that certain material could make the color look lighter or darker (Satin, velvet, etc)?

🥰🥰thank you. I didn’t want to spend more money especially being that I have to pay for my moms EVERYTHING😂😂 and my junior brides hair, nails, dress and shoes also her flight there and back. This was definitely something that I was thinking about because I want them to use the dress as many times as they would like.

Yes. If you want exact matches, dress companies send customers or salons, this shade in chiffon, satin, and crepe. And this similar shade in georette, organza, and tulle in another. Often you look, and dark teal in the filmy organza will be closest to emerald in satin. Even though dark teal is a darker color than emerald, the fine filmy fabric makes it appear lighter. Why it is easier to go with picking several that look nice together. Actually, in fashion or any decorative art, slight variations on a color rather than all the same, look more attractive tive to the eye, richer, with depth. Better than exact matches. But swatches if you order o line or in salons, and printed color charts, can be used anywhere.

I would go to lowes/home depot ect. Actually pick up the color you want their dress to be in those lil sample cards(one each( same or different greens and they can decide who gets what shade) and specify the length of dress with the cloth style, because while you might trust them one might get a pale micro mini sparkle, another a forest felt robe style, and the other will pick one up at the last minute crying in the corner that the dress looks horrible on her. I would check out azazie, lulu's, ect so it's a bit more collaborative but they can send pic anytime of what they feel is good for you to see if it blends well.

Thank you so much. This makes so much sense I will definitely let them know this tonight so they can go shopping when the stores are finally open again.

This is what I did for my bridesmaids. I picked a store, David's bridal, a color and an length. They all chose their own style and they were ranging in prices

Thank you. I really want them to be themselves and happy and free at the same time. At first I wanted a lavished wedding and now I’m like never mind I will be fine if I have a small rustic wedding full of desserts candy and games. So at first they were going to have a sequined dress that was $300 but after carefully thinking things over I want them to be happy and still have money

That is a great idea. I have been stressing about their clothes more than mine and I was getting to the point where they were going to have to wear a formal pant suit or something

Depending on your bridesmaid's budgets, you could make a showroom on Azazie. Then if they all order within 24 hours of each other, the dresses come from the same batch of fabric. They can pick their own style (and thus their own cost) of dress, but you pick one shade of green for them all and it'll all come from the same dye batch so they're all exactly the same color.
