Bridesmaids dresses

I got engaged on Oct. 1 but sort of diving in the planning process. (Wedding planning is NOT my thing lol) My family is small and all of his family lives in FL so we are planning a destination wedding in FL next October. We are paying for our wedding including lodging for our close family and wedding party. It's important to us to not burden the wedding party with big travel/wedding pary expenses to attend our wedding so I'm thinking about choosing a dress color and telling my bridesmaids to wear whatever they want as long as it's within the shade. Black would be the easiest but too harsh for a FL wedding IMO. Sooo I was thinking a blue or green. Has anyone done something similar and did it work? I don't really care about having everyone matching for pictures. I just want easy and stress-free for all of us. Any advice??

    Lots of women prefer saying "pick a dress in x shade and length" and letting the bridesmaids choose. It's so much easier than getting different body types and personalities to agree on one dress!

    I did this ! I had them in different shades of pink too rather than literally the same color and it didnt clash or anything

    I gave them a color the dress had to be (mint green). I gave them guidelines that it should be somewhat modest because it's a church wedding, but they're free to choose anything they'd like in those parameters!
