Bridesmaids dresses - same color/dif. style?

Nandi, on November 30, 2019 at 1:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Hi everyone ! 😄

So I know for a fact I’m going to have my girls get their dressed from Azazie (we decided on the dark green color). Now what I’m struggling with is whether or not to go the traditional route and have everyone in the same dress ? I kind of like the idea of having everyone choose a style that they feel most comfortable in, but then I’m struggling to find a way to have my MOH stand out.
Any ideas ? Has anyone else done the mixed styles for dresses ? Thanks in advance !

Oh different styles is common for different body types. I say go that route so all the ladies can feel comfortable. Typically I have seen the MOH do one of the wedding colors while the bridal party does the other color. Do you have two colors? Or could she do a different shade of green or green with a pattern?

Definitely allow them to choose their own styles. If you want your MOH to stand out, make her bouquet different.

I told the girls to pick whatever dress they felt most comfortable in as long as they were the same length. Also, i wanted the girls to be in different complimentary colors. They ended up all getting high neck dresses that are all different but work well together.

Our other colors are gold , ivory and a hint of blush pink. I’ve looked at gold dresses and they’re mostly sequins so idk if it’ll be too flashy/itchy fabric. I do like the green with a pattern! I’ve seen some floral dresses that are beautiful. Thanks !

I’m glad the dresses that they picked work well together, that was another concern of mine but it’s good to know that it can work!

I did mixed styles and the color was variations of pink. My moh ended up standing out because hers was short vs everyone else had a long dress

Mismatched or Mix and Match styles are getting trendy lately. If you prefer dark green then mix and match with other shades of green. this one is a mix of emerald green , teal , bottle green , mint green and seafoam green . all the girls here got different shades and styles but they still look fabulous. i think having same style and color is great but mixing up breaks the monotone.

Unless all of your girls are similar shapes, I strongly recommend letting them pick their own styles. We all feel uncomfortable when we put on a gorgeous dress that just doesn't "work" on our body types, and I don't think I'd want to force that on anyone.

Even with dresses of all different styles and in the same color, you can make your MOH stand out in other ways. A different bouquet, hairstyle, or jewelry can make all the difference.

I am doing same color and what style suits the girls body best as I want them to be comfortable and not try to cram into a dress that may not fit them.

I am having my BMs order from that site too! Same color (and fabric) but all are free to order whatever dress style they want. I’ve seen a lot of wedding pics with mixed dresses and think it totally looks fine. I wanted my bridal party to be comfortable rather than looking traditional!

I’m MOH for my friends upcoming wedding, she had us order different styles from Azazie as well. She decided to have my dress as the only one with lace detailing, the others had to choose something in plain chiffon, and I got a thin crystal belt from amazon, it’s gorgeous and it was less than $20. She is also going to have me with a slightly larger bouquet then the other girls. When I got married she was my MOH and I let everyone choose their own style as well, I had her get a long dress and everyone else had a short one.

I prefer letting them get the style they want. This is the trend now and it allows each BM to get a dress she is comfortable in. I told my BMs to get whatever long, burgundy dress they wanted and they all looked great.
