Bridesmaids dresses are wrong color

crissychris34, on December 7, 2018 at 8:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
I’m so distraught. I ordered swatches to find the dress color I liked. Chose the color violet. Ordered the dresses. They came back and they look burgundy NOT violet. But the tag says violet so I can’t send them back because they said they only issue refunds if “they” make the mistake or send damaged goods. What should I do??
1) try to find someone to color dresses?
2) sell the dresses and buy diff color dresses?
3) keep them and change my wedding colors?
HELP ME PLEASE!!!
I wanted the dresses to be closer to the shade of the purple dress on the left (not as dark though). Definitely NOT burgundy. My wedding colors are purple/ivory/silver.
I have 5 bridesmaid dresses & I have no idea why to do!

Where did you order from? Do you have a swatch of the "violet" color from that retailer? I agree that this definitey isn't violet, but if this is the color they advertised as violet, I'm not sure there's much you can do.

I think it’s too far off. I was thinking of compromising and change to an ombré color scheme, but all the ombré decor ideas I saw included gold, blush, brick red, burgundy or which doesn’t work because my wedding colors are purple, ivory, & silver. I’m not a fan of the pink and gold... currently searching Pinterest in desperation to find a way to incorporate this color w/o changing my vision of my wedding decor

If their swatch doesnt match their product that is, to me at least, 100% grounds for a refund.

It looks like eggplant to me, which is a shade of purple...but not what I would call violet either.

I agree. They provided a sample, that is the true advertised color, not the way one appears on line . Take them back. I have done this will bolts of fabric, based a purchase on a swatch they provided. Because it was a real velvet, over 200 dollars involved. When company would not take it, my baby sister, a lawyer, cited the relevant law, and it was that if they send out samples, saying this is it, they must match it, or take back what they sent with no return or restocking fees. Truth in advertising law covers the nation, though much consumer law is state by state. And samples or swatches ( not pictures) can be held out to be the definitive advertisement. We are selling THIS EXACTLY. And that color is way off violet, which is the bluish purple of violets, the flower.

Http://graphicloads.com/imagine-color-names-correctly-with-the-help-of-color-thesa. This violet, or a little bluer one, on the purples chart, is violet. There is never any brown or cinnamon undertone, just a mix of red and blue.

Do you have the swatch? I agree that's not violet, but in my opinion neither of those colors is what I would consider violet... MAYBE plum or eggplant... but not violet, which to me is a lighter, brighter, bluer shade of purple... What vender is this?

Anyway, that's all beside the point... the point being you don't like what you have. I had a similar issue - ordered BM dresses and because the lining showed thru the chiffon so much they looked brow instead of wine. there wasn't anything the shop did wrong in my case... so I had to eat the cost of replacing the lining. If what you got matches the swatch, then you don't have much choice than to eat the cost of replacing to get what you want too. If the swatch you have looks like a different color than the dresses you got, then I would complain, because if that's the case they did do something wrong, regardless of what the tag says.

I agree here. If the swatch doesn't match the dress color, then there is a mistake and you have a leverage point to have them refund you. If it does match but just looks different when it's a whole dress, then there isn't much you can do.

I would call and say the swatch you have doesnt match the color of the dress regardless if the tag says violet

Is the swatch clearly a different color than the dress? If so, I think you are entitled to a refund.

Yes it is a different color. The company only wants to refund me 50% of the cost which is so unfair being that I purchased the swatch to make sure it was the right color before placing the order for 5 dresses

You had their swatch, and you ordered based on that swatch. This is their mistake, and they should fix it. I would contact them
