Bridesmaids dress doesn't fit

And we are only 4 days away. She tried it on for the first time in awhile yesterday and discovered it will not zip. Her mom tried helping her and a seamstress and it won't go up. So due to the time constraint the seamstress only has time to put in a corset because I guess the way the dress is designed she would have to take it apart to let out. Well it's going to cost my BM about $100 for this and she tells me she can't pay for it because she would be flat broke. I can't pay for it either right now because of last minute wedding expenses, rent being due on my wedding day, and daycare being due Friday. I really wish she tried it on weeks in advance! Ugh.

Is there any one who would let her borrow the money? Or a credit card to use? IDK this really stinks and I feel bad for both of you :[[

I like the sweater idea too. safety pin the back with multiple safety pin so the tiny clip has some support and have her wear a black shrug/sweater. She might stick out a little but at least she will be by your side.

What size is she? That dress is available from David's Bridal as one of their "quick ship" colors in a whole bunch of sizes. If I were in her shoes, I would be calling every David's Bridal in the area to see if they had that dress in her size on the floor that she could exchange it for. She might be able to find one, since it seems to be a popular style/color.

I agree with snowangel-- i would call davids bridal that is a popular dress style and color and see if you can exchange it for the correct size- i'm sure one of the stores has it!!!

Will David's Bridal not let her exchange it for a bigger size? You could always check and see if they have one in stock that is bigger. Surely one in the area hassss to have something that will work. Or even a similar dress in this color. They have a lot of those styles in stock at ours in town! Hmmm...would any family members let you or her borrow money? I would totally pay the $100 for my bridesmaid but understand if that is not feasible for you. Sorry you are in this situation!

Thank you for all of the suggestions! She's calling around to davids bridal as we speak. If I had a credit card I would let her use it but I don't have any credit cards. Just a debit card!

If none of the stores in the area have it, she really should call customer service. It's available as Quick Ship, and if she pays for expedited next day shipping she just might be able to get it delivered in time. Also, it's not ideal but if she really can't pay I think if she signs up for the David's Bridal credit card they will put her on a payment plan....

I second the idea about finding similar fabric and using it to fill in the gap. She could be sewed into the dress!

@ogkathryn- I was talking about my bridesmaid who has known her dress doesn't fit for 3 months...not about ops bm. Mine may not have done it maliciously, but she definitely just didn't give a crap enough to go take care of it..

ETA- there is a lot more backstory to this, and there's really no excuse to not have the damn dress altered when she's known it hasn't fit for the past 3+months.. I'm no crazy bridezilla, all I've asked of my bridesmaids is to get the dress (which is all that they should be asked for!). All I said was its hurtful that she hasn't taken care of something so important, if it were me I'd be freaking out.

Since she doesn't want to spend money at all she wants to wear a shawl. Honestly I probably sound like a brat but I hate shawls and she will stand out if she is the only one wearing one.

Maybe someone can sew it onto her that day. I've seen that done before.

It will be really tight in the top and uncomfortable and she'd have to be careful but maybe you can allow her to change into something else after mid reception?

This just happened to me. I forgot to sit when I was thinking of buying the dress. It zipped up so I bought it. It’s a few weeks till the wedding but the zipper busted open when I tried it on trying to buckle by heels. Now I’m worried I won’t be able to sit in the dress. I guess I need to try to lose weight by the wedding. I’m already wearing shapewear. Any other suggestions?
