Bridesmaids' clutches

Ameselle, on April 10, 2015 at 4:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Hi people! I'm brainstorming for bridesmaids gifts. I'd like to get them clutches of some kind for the wedding. Our colors are navy blue and yellow. Their dresses are navy blue, lacey, & knee-length. I'm trying to think of what colors/fabrics would work best with their dresses. Any thoughts?

Also, if you think I should just throw coordination to the wind and get a clutch in each of their favorite color, let me know! I want my ladies happy, above all!

Getting them coordinating clutches is for YOU, not them. Throw coordination to the wind and get them something they'd use in the future. Smiley smile PS- it's nice to see someone open minded!

I get the idea of getting them something to match their ensembles for the day. So maybe something silver would be a nice complement? That said, if you aren't really going to see them, getting them something they will use (in either colours that they love, or even different clutch styles based on personality) would be a better option! Awesome idea! And way better than the girls carrying around their purses all day!

My favorite bridesmaid gift I received was a large canvas shoulder bag personalized with my name, so I got one for each my my girls and I see them using it all the time! they always tell me how much they love it. it was surprisingly cheap too. and they did use it at the reception because they all carried a ton of stuff with them for some reason.

I thought about doing this and I was going to get them gold ones, but I am keeping their gifts consistent and I didn't want to have 5 girls with the same clutch and them getting mixed up all night. I ended up getting makeup bags instead and and turning them into mini survival kits.

I'm doing clutches with a scarf, lip gloss and nail polish, but they aren't going to be wedding related, more for spring, summer.

I'm getting my girls clutches too that will coordinate with their look on the wedding day and can use again and again. I would look on Etsy (that's where I got mine!) I think navy or a color to match their shoes (silver? Nude?) would look best. You could go with cloth, satin or leather depending on the formality.

I'd get them someone neutral with a sturdy fabric/material - like something nude. Twice I've been gifted clutches that coordinated with the dress (red satin and then purple satin). Both went into the garage sale bin.

I gave my girls Kate Spade wristlets. They loved them. One of them uses hers as her everyday wallet.

Wristlets are always more useful - in a neutral color. I use wristlets for so many things - not just to carry stuff. I actually have one COACH wristlet, that I put quarters in and use for doing our laundry in the laundry room. The key attaches perfectly. I have another that I use for cigs and my ID badge at work when I take smoke breaks....and another, larger one that I use to take out with me for the evening.

My colors are blush and gold. They girls are wearing blush dresses so I wanted gold accessories. I decided to just get on amazon and order a bunch of gold clutches in different styles. This way they are all different so they can tell them apart, but they are the same in enough ways to match.

Vintage finds are my favorite!! I have scoured all my local thrift stores and garage sales for a selection of clutches as gifts for the girls, and will be filling them with Day-Of emergency essentials for all of us!

I got my BM's nude clutches from Etsy. They are a fabulous deal for the price, and nude is a color you can get a lot of use out of, especially in the summer months. I am doing a neutral pallette, so they also match the dresses very well.
