Bridesmaids chose their own dresses - what about jewelry?

Kat_, on June 7, 2019 at 6:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hi everyone! I’d love to get some input from you all about how you handled your maids’ jewelry. We let our bridesmaids choose their dresses from Azazie with the only guidelines being Cabernet color, full-length, and chiffon. Should they choose their own jewelry too? They all have different styles and range in ages from 16-55 and we want them to be their beautiful selves. Is it too much to ask them to wear understated jewelry in a specific metal? Or should we get them all something they might like? Or all the same? I can’t wait to hear what you all think and what you’re doing! ☺️

You can do whatever. I was given jewelry as a gift for the 1 wedding I was in, and it was the jewelry we wore for the event. I also bought my girls their jewelry. I got really pretty sterling silver bracelets (identical) and earrings (similar but slightly different) that I think they will like and can be worn during other occasions.

I definitely wouldn't do all the same jewelry. If everyone selected their own dresses, they probably have different necklines and the same jewelry won't work. I think it's fine to tell them that you'd prefer a certain color, but if you want them to wear specific pieces, you should purchase them.

I think it would be kind of cute if you decided to do gifts for them and it's jewelry they wear that day. Everyone does have different tastes though so one jewelry for everyone is kind of hard unless it's veryyyyy simple then it could be uniform.the idea of it being personalized is cute too.how about something simple with their monogram?

I am picking dresses, but letting them all pick their own jewelry, hair, and makeup to express themselves. I want them the same yet different if that makes sense. Since you let them pick dresses I think it would be adorable if you gifted them the jewelry you want them to wear.

I would just give them guidelines on metal color and style and let them choose. I personally have a metal allergy and could never wear just any jewelry. Unless someone was being very generous I would never be able to wear it.

Some jewelry shops do bridal/wedding parties. I only have a MOH, so I'm just going to take her to this place I found and we will pick out our jewelry there. It's cool little minimalist artisan jewelry shop, so our pieces will be unique.

I ask my bridesmaids to pick their dress style from Azazie as long as the dresses were in the particular color and full length. They sent a picture of their dresses to me and I bought all of them the same earrings and bracelet. Since they had different necklines, no necklace was needed.

I let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses, jewelry & shoes. I want them to feel & look their best (whatever that means to them).

This is all such great feedback and awesome ideas! I’m leaning towards letting them choose their own jewelry along with their dresses (with the guidelines) and nude shoes. I think it might look fun to have them all different because that’s what makes them THEM 💗. Now, to talk to my FW about this too! ☺️
