Bridesmaids carrying bouquets alternative

Ashley, on October 12, 2016 at 7:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi,

I don't really want to spend the money for flowers for bouquets. I prefer to have something that goes with my theme more: Harlem Nights/ Gatsby. Any suggestions on what they can hold/carry? I'm willing to do DIY projects; I'm open to everything except carrying candles. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

First of all, ditch Gatsby. It's one of the saddest tales ever written; most people who call that their theme have never read it. Roaring 20's is better.

I have to say that I've never seen a bridal party carry anything besides flowers that didn't look awkward and contrived; lanterns, feathers, clutches, parasols.

Get flowers. Even simple ones. It's one of the things to consider wen you invite your BP, which you shouldn't have done yet.

The bridesmaids at the one wedding I was at carried like a small bell instead of flowers. She was a crafty kind of bride lol.

Wow that's awful to say that some bridemaids looked awkward! There's no rules when it comes to how someone wants to celebrate their love, so long as nobody is getting hurt and everyone is on board for everything.

A very feathery fan sounds like a good option! Smiley laugh

My cousin did the whole 20s/gatsby theme... she made her bouquet and her bridesmaids.. she actual spent some time going to flea markets/yard sales/goodwills/estate sales/relatives and bought broaches... here is a pic of hers and a bridesmaid... maybe that'll give some inspiration.. they looked beautiful all together

I bought 2 bouquets on Ecoflower that I'll use for bridesmaids. I'll end up ordering more because I just ordered these as samples, but they frequently have BOGO! The Cottage bouquets are nice and simple and I can dress the handle up with ribbon. They're $29.99 each, so with the BOGO they were like $15 each, and with shipping about $40, I think. Although this past weekend they had BOGO *and* free shipping all at once! They always have good sales going on, so if you're interested I'd definitely get on their email list!

I got beautiful clutch purses for all my girls. They were escorted down the aisle instead of walking solo. So linked arms with escort and held clutch in the other hand. I don't have any pro pics yet, so this is the only one I have showing what it looked like.

You can literally buy a dozen long stem roses and have them each carry a single rose. $10 total from a grocery store.
