Bridesmaid/future sister in law drama

Colleen, on January 18, 2018 at 10:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
My sister in law also asked me if she could but her dress at another
Store instead of getting it at Davids bridal which I had picked in the beginning,
And my two other bridesmaids already bought there dresses at Davids bridal.
Is it important for them to get there dress at the same place?

Not at all! That old dye lot issue is a non-starter in the day of computers.

The only person it should be important to is you. does the dress from another store match the ones from DB that you chose? is it the same color? are you okay with this? if not, i would talk to her about picking a dress from DB.

are the dresses you chose from DB out of her budget? it could be why she is looking other places for a gown.

For me personally, I would say it depends on the look you are going for. My 3 bridesmaids live all over the state so I told them where to go online and what color to get and they can choose the style. The thing is when you get some at one place then one at the other, it'll probably not be the correct shade of color (if that is something that is important to you). But you are the bride and she should be willing to be accommodating to what you want. Money could also be a factor though. Has she told you why she wants to go to this other place??

Is everyone doing a different dress? If they’re doing different dresses I don’t think it matters as much. My BMs all got their dresses from Azazie, same color and fabric but different dresses, and there was some variation in the shade (despite them purchasing on the same day) but it didn’t really show up that much in the photos. My Mom’s dress was also from another store and you couldn’t really see much variance in the colors in the photos with that either.

If they’re supposed to get the same dress, same color, then I think it would be my preference as a bride that they come from the same store. Has she mentioned why she wants to get the dress somewhere else? Is there a financial reason?

She said it has nothing to do with money that's it's more of other
    Personal issues (transportation, babysitter,etc.
I've offered to watch her child & give her some suggestions on getting
There & she seems t make up excuses

It should be fine, or at least close enough. If the exact color doesn't bother you (and it really shouldn't) then don't worry about it.

If you want all the BM's in marine blue from David's Bridal, she should order marine blue from David's Bridal. She doesn't even have to go into the store. She can order online.

Is there any chance this is a financial issue and she is hoping to buy a less expensive dress?

That's what I told her I said to her I know you really wanted to a store & try on a dress but would you willing to get in online & she replyed I never thought of that but she has sent me pictures of dresses from online stores.

It's more of a jealousy issue with her it seems to me & my fiancé hopefully she'll come around & if not she can't be in the wedding

I would need to see the dress in person no matter what the color is though because everything does look different online.

If you want the colors to match, she needs to also go to David's Bridal.

I know of a wedding in which the girls purchased dresses from the same bridal shop, with the same name for the color, but the dresses were different brands, and the color variation was incredible. Not incredible good, but just so far enough off that it looked not good. Smiley sad

If she can match the shade of marine blue from David's Bridal, I think it's fine. I'd give her a swatch of the color and tell her you don't care if she gets her dress somewhere else, so long as it is that exact shade. She can then either try to match the shade or just order from DB. Personally, just ordering from DB sounds simpler. Blues can be difficult to match.

If you want everyone in the same dress, then yes. If you're mismatching, then no.

YES IT IS. SO IMPORTANT. I've ordered "Dusty Blue" swatches from 5 different stores, and every single one is different. The fabrics were all different and the colors were all different. David's Bridal gives a military discount (if she qualifies) and always has deals for money off bridesmaids dresses. I'm sure she could find coupons to help pay for it if she needed. You run the risk of it not matching the others.
