Happilee
Dedicated December 2021

Bridesmaid will be almost 7 months pregnant.

My sister in law just let it slip that they are expecting in June. We of course, are thrilled! But I hadn't asked her to be in the wedding party yet. And now I don't know how a dress will work. I was going to let my girls pick their own style in the same color palette, so I have that going for me.

I know we will make it work, but does anyone have any helpful advice I can pass along to make this easier for her?

Empire waisted dresses will be her friend. Depending on order time, it would probably be wise to order a couple of sizes up and have it altered closer to the time once she has a better idea of bump size - as always, it's easier to take a dress in rather than let it out. Also, she probably won't want to wear heels - she might be OK in them for the ceremony but probably not the whole day.

Azizae, David’s Bridal, and a lot of other retailers have maternity collections! I would steer her toward those. And I second PP about having her order bigger than she thinks she’ll need—you can always have things taken in. I don’t know what length you were picturing, but I would suggest going with floor length in case her legs and/or ankles swell.

I also second PP on empire waists. My cousin was seven months pregnant at her own wedding and looked stunning in her empire-waisted gown!

This happens all the time. It’s not a big deal. Just let the bridal store know so they can help her order the best size and something that will accommodate her growing belly.

Especially since you're will to have everyone choose their dress, this shouldn't be a big deal at all. I have a friend who was in a wedding the week AFTER her due date, which baby missed by almost two weeks. She felt pretty huge, but looked lovely in a maternity dress the color of the bridal party.

Empire waist!! Both my sister and my brother had pregnant women in their wedding parties, and that was the style of dress that saved the day!! It's such a high-waisted cut, that it works with most pregnant bellies really well. You want your BM to be comfortable, as well as match what the rest of the wedding party is wearing. So, look for that style in whatever color you choose. Good luck!! And congratulations Auntie!!

Just give your BM's a color/fabric/length and let them pick, that would be the easiest route by far. Azazie is a great option for this, plus they are very quick and have custom sizing options as well as MATERNITY BM dress options!
