Bridesmaid tan lines

lemonEgg, on October 23, 2016 at 7:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I'm a very pale bridesmaid in my brother's Mexico DW. I will be there for a whole week before the actual wedding, swimming and in the sun daily. My bridesmaid dress is strapless. My swimsuits are not. What should I do about tan lines/burn lines? The ceremony and reception is very formal as I understand it but I honestly have no idea how to navigate this. There is an option to have my makeup done the day of, would a makeup person be able to take care of that? I was planning to do my own makeup, but if I do get some color on my skin, none of my makeup will match anyways. Thanks for any advice!

Get a strapless bathing suit top and stay out of the sun for long periods of time so you don't burn. Peeling doesn't look good on anyone.

Buy a strapless bathing suit? Take down the straps when sunbathing?

I do not recommend makeup to even out tan lines. Every shade of skin tone shows up in post. Embrace your skin tone. Wear a long sleeve swim shirt and enjoy the benefits ... no time needed to apply sunscreen and makeup, saving $ on sunscreen and makeup , saving $ on post production should you ask the photographer to even out skin tones, and keeping your skin safe from the sun.

Tan lines are sexy! Rock those. Peeling is not a though! Make sure you don't over do it!

If you are really that pale you should probably not spend all day in the sun, I did in the DR wearing spf 30 and 45 and I got super burnt day 1 and it didn't really become less painful for like 5 days. And it would be super annoying to be constantly applying sunscreen all day if you are going to be in the water all day

I would get a strapless top. I had horrific tan lines from my running shirt and it took me a long time to get rid of it.

Apply and re-apply sunblock, and stay out of direct sun! Rock that pale-ness and protect your skin! Sorry, this may not be the helpful advice you're looking for Smiley smile Just my suggestion!

Strapless anything really isn't my jam due to a very large chest lol, but I'm wearing the required dress. The swim shirt is a great idea. You guys think it is a good idea to get my makeup done though, rather than try to put porcelain makeup on top of tan? Anyone have sunscreen recommendations? I've never really been on a sunshiney vacation before.

Get a strapless, even if just for the wedding.

What if I go tanning before I go? Would that help?

If you're really that pale, are you going get tan enough where you'll need a different shade of make up? If you want to get your makeup done, get your makeup done.

Please don't fake and bake before the trip. Skin cancer isn't fun.

Neutrogena SPF 70 - waterproof in the aerosol can rocks

Wear a swim shirt/coverup. REAPPLY. You can burn in the shade too - and sunburns suck. If it's red, it's dead and will peel.

Get a spray tan (this just makes you tan - does not fix tan lines nor will it protect your virgin skin from the sun).

@LilBit Where do they sell that sunscreen? Should I just order it online? What happens if I get a spray tan and then get tans lines on top of it? Is that a thing? To be honest, I'm actually allergic to most sunscreens, but I'd much rather wear a sunscreen and deal with a rash from that than deal with skin cancer and my skin peeling off. I know I'm coming off sounding clueless, but I generally avoid the sun and none of this occurred to me until right before I posted this.

I looove swim shirts. You can get them inexpensively on amazon. And wear your new bathing suits for indoor swimming/hot tub/jacuzzi.

    Https://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Beach-Defense-Sunscreen-Spectrum/dp/B00ANL8QHA/ref=sr_1_9_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1477278299&sr=8-9&keywords=neutrogena+sunscreen

goal is to use this wisely to prevent tan lines.

Spray tan by a human (not machine) can even out some if needed.
