One of my bridesmaids just texted saying they are no longer going to be able to make it to my wedding, Im getting married in two months and would prefer both sides of the party stay even. I want to ask another friend of mine to take her place who I’m really close with but don’t want her to feel obligated due to it being last minute and I also don’t want her to feel like I’m just choosing her to fill the space. Anyone have any advice?

Hello Breanna,
I experienced the same situation I chose my best friend as my Maid of Honor and she couldn’t fulfill her duties as MOH which put me in an awkward place. At this point I had to decide to remove her from the wedding party and I asked her to be a guest thinking she’d be more equipped to be a guest and she decided to not attend my wedding all together at this point I maybe had about 9 months left to ask someone else. I put aside my pride and any negative thoughts such as I don’t want this person to feel like they are a second option or that their obligated to help. I asked a friend of mine would she mind stepping in as a bridesmaid and she was so excited. I think if you’re close friends with this person then they will understand your position and possibly be excited to be able to help you out. I wish you the best!
