Bridesmaid shoes?

Cassandra, on February 17, 2020 at 2:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 25
What are your bridesmaids wearing shoe wise? My girls are wearing long flowy gowns in different shades of purple. The style shoes they were looking at don’t fit their foot shapes (wide and short toes) I’m having the same issue for myself. Cute ideas anyone??

My bridesmaids are wearing long dresses and this is probably just me but I told them they could wear sandals, ballet flats, heels, even cute tennis shoes. I myself will be wearing white converse because I can’t walk in heels and want to be comfortable so I gave them the same option.

Anyone wearing a long dress, I would personally have them choose what shoe they felt most comfortable in because no one is going to see the shoes. That way, everyone can wear whatever type of shoe best fits their feet & their comfort level.

Agree with others that with long dresses no one is going to see/notice their shoes. Daughter told her BMs to wear any nude closed-toe shoe they wanted (wedding was in January and we were hoping for beautiful weather, but it could have been pouring). Most already had at least one pair. Some wore heels, others wore ballet flats, and I can guarantee no one knew or cared what their shoes looked like. Good luck!

PS daughter also wore Converse under her aline ballgown. When she first mentioned it, it sounded odd to me because the wedding was definitely more formal, but her highest priority was comfort. It was fine! She got them in the wedding color and we had them customized with her new name and the wedding date. They were adorable, and except when she lifted her skirt to walk down stairs, no one saw them -- and she was completely comfortable for 12+ hours of standing and crazy dancing. Smiley winking

I plan to just request open toed nude shoes and leave it up to them if they want a heel, wedge, flat, etc. I found a couple options to give them as suggestions but if anyone has similar shoes already they can just wear those.

I just requested my girls wear silver shoes. I want them to be comfortable so I let them pick their shoes.

My BM's are wearing long dresses and I just said any nude shoe you want. I don't care if they are all the same or not. I'll just ask if they wear open toed shoes, not to wear some neon color polish.

We’re all wearing our boots. I think as PP have said nude in any style, I also think silver or black depending on what your other colors are and when the wedding is would be fine

The bm’s are our daughters and they originally picked shoes they liked but we went and tried them on and they were a no go lol. One of the girls is thinking cute sandals and the other two want to wear heels really badly so I’m thinking the cute bootie sandal heels maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️ My fiancé wants me in heels 😞(hes a traditionalist) otherwise I’d be wearing my rothy flats. I love the converse flats look but my feet are too wide for those 😭

Super cute. I want to wear rothys but my fiancé is more traditional and wants me in heels 😞 so I’m trying to find something. 🤞🏻 The girls want heels too except one girl will wear whatever (they’re our teens/tween girls) so I’m thinking the cute bootie sandal might work. The wedding is outdoors too.

Cute, love the boot look. One girl is in plum, one in a lavender haze/grey and one in a med neutral purple called wisteria. Our wedding colors are purples and grey and pop of sage green. So I wonder if I can mix up shoe colors nudes/greys? My dress is ivory champagne and I want gold shoes.

No one will see their shoes so let them wear whatever they are most comfortable in.

My girls wore long dresses and I honestly have no idea what shoes they wore. I didn’t care since you can’t see them.

My girls wore knee-length dresses and I honestly couldn't tell you what shoes they wore lol. I suggested they wear either gold or rose gold shoes. They picked whatever they felt most comfortable in.

Also, this is just me, but if I wanted to wear flats and my fiance wanted me to wear heels because "he's a traditionalist" I'd not so politely tell him my feet, my decision. If he wants heels so bad, he can wear them. You will be standing all day. I wore flat sandals, and even my feet were killing me by the end of the night.

I’m struggling w color for the girls also because they’re all in such different shades of purple, I’m not sure if the same color shoes would even matter. Like the lavender grey would look good w a nude but the plum dress a light grey? 🤷🏻‍♀️ And I’m helping them pick/buy because it’s our daughters.
For me I’m going to try and find heels that will work but I will probably switch to my beloved Rothy flats for reception.

I would think silver or nude would go with any shade of purple. They don't have to be the same color either. Also, if you decide to do a shoe switch, make sure the heels you choose aren't too high. The dress will be hemmed to your height in heels, so if you take them off, you don't want your dress to be too long (assuming it's floor length).
