Bridesmaid "save the date"

Alli, on September 11, 2016 at 6:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I'm looking for something to include with my "bridesmaids proposal" that would have the wedding date on it but not be totally useless and expensive. I was thinking a planner but I know 3 out of 4 of my sisters won't use it. It's not totally necessary to include, but I've given them the date and they still keep asking. Does anyone have any other ideas for something cute and inexpensive that would be a reminder of the date?

I suppose I could just hope they keep save the dates when I send them but I don't have those even planned at all.

What about just a little stand up desk calendar? You could open it to your month with the date circled

You can have a little notecard with the calendar month of your wedding and circle the date of your wedding

Don't waste your money. Your wedding is at the end of NEXT year -- a full 13 months away. For a BM, that's as close (and worth committing to memory) as a wedding in early 2018. I guarantee that your sisters will be well awary of the date by next summer. There's no reason to do anything cute and printable to put it in their faces next week.

I know when my wedding is, but in a busy day to day that everyone has, things slip, even things that are a year away. There are many other big events that are planned months before they occur. Doing this next week was never mentioned, things take time to make or order, as I'm sure you are aware. I am simply planning. I also mentioned I wanted something inexpensive and useful, but thanks for your advice.

Thanks for the other suggestions Kayla and Jessie, those are simple and cheap!

I just printed the information out on little pieces of paper, rolled it up and tied it with a little ribbon. I gave them boxes with ring pops that said "He popped the question, now it's my turn! Will you be my bridesmaid?" I just tossed the scroll in with the ring pop and a team bride pin.

Is there a reason that they need to know your date a year in advance?

I'm in a wedding later this month and they weren't even engaged until 4 months ago, which was still plenty of notice for everyone.

I do think it's helpful for the BMs to know the date, one of my girls is in a wedding 2 weeks before mine (thankfully we didn't pick the same dates!!!) but it's good for them to know, IMO

I made a post as a brainstorm to see what other brides have done. I have gotten some great ideas. I'm not really sure why someone would waste their time commenting without a suggestion, asking my intentions. As I stated before, I am just looking for ideas, planning, that's what this site is for. I never said I was doing it tomorrow, but if I was planning to, then I think it would be more of a consideration for my bridesmaids, as I know everyone has busy lives and my wedding is not the center of them. Im glad 4 months worked in your situation, but unfortunately, it's not always that way.

I had someone give me a wooden hanger with my name on it and her wedding date on it to use for hanging my bridesmaid dress. Something somewhat useful.
