Bridesmaid rant

Elizabeth, on January 6, 2017 at 11:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Hey y'all! So recently I sent my bridesmaids the link to azazie.com and let them choose their own dresses as long as they were burgundy and long. I figured this would be the easiest way to let them choose a dress they actually like, but also have the exact same color. Also it's a lot easier since they are all from different parts of the country and wouldn't be able to meet to try on dresses. Today, one of my bridesmaids text me and said she doesn't want to order a dress offline because she doesn't know if it will fit, and said she wasn't going to order one from there, but was going to go to David’s bridal instead. I tried to explain that azazie let's you sample a dress for $10 to see if it fits right, but she says she wants to go to David’s bridal. Then pinned it back on me saying I chose a site that only had basic sizes. Which she is..(They do custom as well) I don't know what the deal is...All I want is the colors to match.I didn't think I was being to unreasonable. Rant over.

Okay, maverick BM, if you don't have a matching dress by June, you'll be looking for your escort card. End of discussion

The colors from davids to azazie will NOT match. Tell her it isn't optional. She can choose....order the gown from the website you suggested, or skip being in the wedding party.

I have my MOH buying her dress from Davids bridal and my other bridesmaids got theirs off the internet too. She originally ordered hers off the same website as my other girls. But when she got the dress it was made totally weird. She's on the plus side all I care about is that she feels great in her dress. I don't think you can get to mad. You let them choose their own dress but in a color you want. And she's doing what you asked.

@teisha yes op can, her bm is not in fact doing what she was asked. She was given a color and a manufacturer. Going to another manufacturer with colors that aren't exact matches is in fact doing the exact opposite of what she was asked. She can wear whatever she wants every other day of the year. She can give up one for OP

@blair I mean your right I guess but I mean if she's on the bigger size like my MOH then some online companies say make sure your measurement match what we have for size and then you order that size and it doesn't fit because they don't really know how to make a dress for a plus size. That's what happened to my MOH. And not only did we lose out on money from shipping it back we also didnt get our full.price back that we paid for the dress. So she could order a dress from where she's asking them to do it and then what if it doesn't fit. Then what are going to do still.make her wear it?

She doesn't have to outright buy a dress. OP said, they can order a sample to verify sizing for $10. This BM is just being difficult

I've been thinking Azazie is way to go. I like their options for style and color. Plus I t feel like they are best priced for what I've seen so far.

As long as you're not being Bridezilla about it, which it doesn't sound like you are. She needs to get on board.

@Teisha I totally get where your coming from! She is average size, probably around a size 8. That's a huge bummer about your MOH tho! Also a July bride! Smiley smile

@Jessica it's a great way to do it! All my bridesmaids have already found the dresses they want to wear and all are beautiful! Plus, the prices are fantastic! I love that you can try one for $10.

    Thank y'all for your feedback!

Sounds like if she doesn't have a burgundy Azazie dress she'll be sitting her happy ass down with the other guests. Someone posted here I think yesterday that Azazie goes up to like a size 30. She's full of shit.

I have a BM who was also procrastinating buying a dress at 4 months out. I had originally wanted my BMs to use Azazie, got the colour swatch for them. Well, we took swatch with us to David's Bridal because they wanted to try on dresses. Unfortunately, sample dress option from Azazie is not available to Canadians. The color matched, I'm going with champagne. One BM bought her dress and was able to take it home since it was on clearance, the other one couldn't order the dress she absolutely loved because the lead time is for May and my wedding is in April.

So, I went on Azazie, found dress very similar to dress from David's, delivery would be before wedding date and she agreed.

Perhaps, you may have to do the same with your BM.

I'm posting pic of dress from David's on the left and from Azazie on the right. Eta: proper grammar is too hard tonight

I just have a question about Azazie for anyone who's used it! Is renting from them a good option if I'm looking for long dresses? I'm concerned about them being too short/long depending on the BM's height because it's just one standard length and no alterations on rentals right?

She can either get with the program or attend as a guest. She's just being difficult.

Either she does this one simple thing or she can not be in the wedding. The only thing my bridesmaids had a choice in were shoes! Sometimes bridesmaids can be difficult and try to make it all about them instead of supporting you.

You could order fabric swatches from both Azazie and Davids to see if the colors will match. I found that their emerald greens were close enough that I was comfortable offering my girls the flexibility of using either retailer. You could give that a try.

My advice comes with a big grain of salt because I haven't seen the finished dresses all together yet. Maybe it'll backfire and the swatches will end up not being reliable, but since we'll have a mix of Azazie and David's, I figure it'll be fine (rather than just one slightly off dress sticking out, for example).

I wonder if there's another reason she doesn't like Azazie. Maybe she found a dress at David's that's more affordable?

@LarenWang Azazie isnt a rental site, you actually purchase them. If you do a custom order it has you submit measurements for length. I highly suggest their Try at Home option for $10. I have 3 dresses on their way to me now for my girls to try.

I think a few posters are giving your BM a bunch of excuses, and from I have read based off of your I initial post and your comments, OP, this BM has no excuse whatsoever. She is being impossible and making the whole thing about her. I am in the process of ordering a BM dress from Azazie for my engagement photos (doing something a little more formal). I ordered two sample dresses, spent the whole week I got to have them for, trying them on, having my picture taken in them, and doing research and figuring out my best option and my best sizing route. I'm larger than a size 8 and I'm very pleased with the fact that they have so many styles to choose from and that custom sizing is free. Explain to her one more time that this isn't optional and if she still wants to be difficult, then she can be difficult among the guests instead of up there at the altar with you.

Burgundy from Azazie and from Davids bridal WILL NOT match. Davids bridal is more purple. Im doing burgundy also and that color is SO hard to match.

I had the same issue with my MOH. She insisted we get dresses off Azazie and I ordered a fabric sample. She helped me decide on a color and fabric, then when it came time to order said she didnt like any of the options and didn't want to get one off Azazie. I stuck to my guns and reminded her that she's the one who insisted we order dresses online because they would be cheaper. She finally gave in and ordered one.

My girls are using Azazie and have all done the custom order sizing (same price as the standard sizing) and their dresses have come in fitting perfectly. They all tried on a sample to get a general idea of the fit of the dress they wanted and then ordered it to size. They have samples in all sizes, so it really sounds like she's just making excuses. Plus, Most of the long dresses on Azazie are cheaper than the ones at David's that usually will need alterations still!
