Bridesmaid question?

I paid for the hair and had them do their own makeup. I think as long as you are state up front that you are willing to pay for one but not both due to your budget everyone should be ok with it. Would you be willing to pay for hair and not makeup? If so I would see which one they would prefer.

So I might look to see which one they would be more comfortable doing. Also, I think all special occasion hair and makeup are expensive.

I think that's fine as long as they know in advance and have the choice to do their own you could also make it optional for you to pay for their hair or makeup in case they prefer one over the other.

As long as you're not requiring their hair to be professionally done or asking for a particularly complex style, there's nothing wrong with not covering it.
