Bridesmaid Proposals

Kacci, on September 12, 2020 at 1:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20
When should I ask my bridesmaids to be apart of my special day? A year out? 10 months out?

Also, what should I put in their bridesmaid proposal boxes? I don’t want to over do it and spend a fortune, but I definitely want it to be nice!
Also, what do I put in a junior bridesmaid proposal box? It is my little sister and she is 12 years old (turns 13 in January)!
Help 😅

I did a discussion here where people posted what they put in their bridesmaid proposals if you want some ideas:

Up to you when you want to. Some ladies will say wait closer because friendships can change. As for me I did about one year in advance maybe 10 months. I would say no later than 10 months for time to get dress and what not. I did a starbucks theme so check pinterest with some ideas. Smiley smile

I would ask them sometime between 8-12 months before your wedding. As for the proposal boxes, you don't necessarily need to do anything too flashy or too expensive. I got customized puzzles for each of my bridesmaids and mailed them out (most of my bridesmaids live in different states). Check on Etsy, there are plenty of different options for both bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids!

    Congratulations!
So I've read a lot of different posts and some people have said if you ask too soon there is more of a chance relationships will change for the worst. I would say less than a year, but more than 6. Just given a lot of brides have had issues with their bridal party. If you do 8 months out that leaves plenty of time for an engagement party if you are having one, dress shopping at the 8 month mark. Some people go a lot sooner, but you really only need 6 months unless you are going super couture and having it handmade.
8 month - dress shopping6 month engagement party3 month bridal shower1 month bachelorette partyJust to give an idea.
Etsy has cute jewelry that saids will you be my MoH and/or bridesmaid. Wedding survival kit to include aspirin and such (Francescas online have sales on cute wedding stuff).
    Best of luck!

I am asking 12 months before the wedding. I bought them each a pumpkin spice candle with their names on them asking to be one of my bridesmaids, I got them off etsy. I am getting married next September and We plan to go out to dinner so my friends and soon to be sister in laws can meet. I will give them their candles then Smiley smile

I only have two bridesmaids one is my sister so I didn’t even ask her, the other is my best friend. I drunkly asked my best friend while we were getting our nails done in New Orleans before the world shutdown lol So in March I’m getting married this November but I did ask her again in like May or June to confirm if she was still comfortable since we are in a pandemic now.
I say ask when your ready, you know your friends best

Depends on your relationship with them. I asked mine a little over a year out, but my BM's are both my cousins, and my MOH is my sister. They all already knew it would be them anyway, and I wanted to make sure since they're a senior in high school, a junior in college, and a sophomore in college respectively, we had enough time to officially plan. If they're just friends I would wait a little longer- 10 months out ish. My bridesmaid proposals were pretty simple- i did them starbucks themed because lord knows brand new adults could use some caffeine! i put a starbucks cold cup (it was like $25 for 5 on etsy), a $10 starbucks gift card, instant coffee, and their favorite teavana tea! the slogan on the box was "it would mean a latte if you would be my BM/MOH!"

I asked mine last month, which was a little bit over a year out! I bought really cute boxes on Amazon, filled them with pretty shredded paper, and put in things like hand lotion, face masks, and these: https://amborellaorganics.com/. You can also get customized glasses on Etsy ((I did shot glasses ("take a shot and help me tie the knot") but you can do wine glasses or tumblers, or whatever their vibe is)) and a 50ml of their favorite alcoholic (or not) beverage. You'll find a lot of ideas on Pinterest for these, so just take your favorite item from each box you see and roll with it. Good luck!
