Hi. Is it ok to ask my friend to be my bridesmaid before having a set wedding date? We have a general idea of when we want to get married but we won’t set a date until we look at venues. My friend lives out of state and will be visiting soon and I wanted to ask her in person and she most likely won’t visit again anytime soon. She knows she’ll be a bridesmaid as she’s one of my dearest friends (and I was her MOH) any advice?

If youre not sure when you will have the opportunity to see her again, I would go ahead and ask her. Just let her know that your not 100% sure when the date will be. Give her any info/ideas you have now, and tell her you will let her know asap.

Yes, I did the same for two of mine. My sister and cousin agreed before we had a date set.

Absolutely! Not uncommon, actually. If you have a general idea of when, that's helpful, but since these are supposed to be your nearest & dearest - no matter the date, I would expect they would make themselves available for your date whenever it is selected

Thank you everyone! Makes me feel better. I had a couple people tell me that maybe I should wait. But I think younare right and it’s pretty far out too so it should give plenty of time.
