Bridesmaid proposal for i do crew

Amanda, on November 2, 2019 at 8:49 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 4
Hi all! I'm going to be getting married in Antigua and have plans for my best friend and the groom's best friend and their significant others will be come. And we will be paying. We want a very small wedding just the six of us. However I have 2 close friends that will be helping with the dress shopping, my mental breakdowns in planning, etc. I want to do a bridesmaid proposal that shows they are valued but not obligated to come. They have already expressed they will not fly. How do I honor these people who will be helping for the next year? Is there a term for bridesmaids that do not come but help with the reception when we get back and all the other stuff?

I would just write a thank you card and maybe give them a small gift. I wouldn't ask someone to be a bridesmaid when they've already told you they can't attend the wedding. I feel like that would put them in an uncomfortable position.

Thank you for your response! I have only been in 2 weddings and am very unsure of the etiquette here. Thank you for your idea!

Can you ask them to be “honorary bridesmaids” instead?

I agree with Caytlyn that I'd get them a gift to say thank you Smiley smile
